Idyllic and Beautiful
By: Sonia from New Jersey

We enjoyed Jungle Bay enormously; it certainly exceeded our expectations for service and scenery. Jungle Bay is beautifully and naturally wooded, the cottages are comfortably and tastefully furnished and the view from our oceanview cottage was so lovely, day and night.
The staff are perhaps the best part of the deal; they ALL knew our names by the end of the first day and whenever we encountered them during our stay they addressed us by name; I was impressed. They are the most accommodating service providers that I have come across. We were there for four days and said good bye with hugs and kisses to everyone, the cook, the servers, the guides, and the interns. They were warm and helpful and made the stay very special.
Jungle bay serves fruit juices from island fruit, guava, tamarind, coconut water, grapefruit, passion fruit etc., and the juices are delicious. There was always a vegetarian option at dinner and the appetizers were unfailingly outstanding. Joanne, the chef, is warm and welcoming and very polite. Every meal is fresh and made to order. I ate heartily because there were over a hundred steps to our cottage and we got more exercise than we normally would on vacation just by going about our business. There is a gym but unless you are in training for something you won’t need it.
If you are fit and/or energetic, the tours are good value for money. You get to see the island and hear about its history. Moses our guide was well informed and resourceful as he led us on river walks, hikes, to the falls, the Saturday morning market, the botanical gardens and the boiling spring, all beautiful, all impressive.
I did not do Yoga but there are classes every morning; I did get my half hour spa treatment every day.
You should be prepared for the ride from the airport to Jungle Bay; it is an hour and a half up down, round and round. The island is mountainous and the roads are curvy; if you get car sick sit in the front of the van. Expect to encounter lizards as you walk around the premises. They show no interest in humans but take some getting used to if you are not familiar with them. You will need flexible climbing shoes to be most comfortable on the tours.
You are going to LOVE the shower.

Eden rediscovered
By: Samantha from CT
Date of Visit: May 2006
Where to begin? In all our travels, Dominica has the kindest and most gentle-spirited folk by far. The love of island life is infectious; you will not want to leave! We combined a spa package with a wedding package and had a spellbounding elopement and honeymoon ~ far exceeding our expectations.
Moses, Brother, Jarvis, and Irving guided us through some beautiful experiences including sea kayaking, snorkeling, river walks, hikes, visiting market on Saturday, Glasse, Victoria Falls and the Carib territory. The restaurant staff (we love you Joanne) is warm and welcoming and very polite. (try the local rum) Every meal is fresh and made to order - between the cuisine, yoga, swimming in the stone pool and daily activities... you can only be healthy.
Jungle Bay is truly a home away from home!

Paradise!
By: Anonymous from North Carolina
Date of Visit: February 2006
What a perfect vacation! Jungle Bay is special for so many reasons... ...the astoundingly beautiful tropical environment that balances nature with pampered luxury ...the private, hand-crafted cottages perched on the hillside with ocean views, the outdoor shower an especially refreshing treat ...the great guides wanting you to fully experience their magical island -- now where can you get chocolates for Valentine's day, straight from the cocoa tree? ...the fantastic yoga classes and spa treatments to soothe sore muscles after mountain treks ...the sumptuous organic dinners (all ingredients locally grown) as the full moon rises over the Atlantic ...the breaking waves and spring peepers singing you to sleep .... I could go on and on.
But most of all this unique ecotourism resort is about the people who treat you like a guest in their home. Sam, Glenda and all the Jungle Bay family are there to please. As Anthea said, we want you to leave with Dominica in your bones. We did... and we'll be back! Thank you!!!!
