Will not go back!

Date of Visit: April 2007
I was at Park Royal the week of April 7, 2007. Let me tell how it was. 1. You have to stand in line to book a table for dinner every day if you want to eat in a restaurant where you are served. 2. The buffet is really bad. The food never changes and most kids and adults will have a hard time finding something to eat. 3. The "snack" or "bikini bar" food was the same EVERY day. Boring hotdogs, nachos and lousy hamburgers. It NEVER changes. Even our kids would like a chicken nugget or something different. 4. Dont be fooled by the sign saying "concierge". It is NOT a concierage. This person's only job is to get you to sign up for a 75 minute sales pitch for a timeshare. They try to convince you by quoting inaccurate and high prices for trips and offer you a discount. Its a scam. 5. The service orientation of THE ENTIRE STAFF including the MANAGER is one of "I dont care" and "I just work" here. They really dont care if you have an issue. I sat in the lobby one morning and I met 4 different families checking out and EVERY one was upset, dissatisfied and not returning. 6. The hotel runs out of snorkel equipment for the beach everyday at 9am. YES - 9am!!! I talked to the manager and said my kids are very dissappointed - his response was to tell me to read the fine print of "supplies are based on availability". 7. Safety in rooms is questionable - even though they have guards. I met a mother of 2 kids that was very upset because someone kicked open their room door and stole their stuff, including both of her kids ipods. 8. Snorkeling off the hotel beach is not worth it. Hurricane Wilma 2 years ago eliminated the coral reef and there is nothing to see. There is no reef and no fish. Also, dont do the catamaran sailing trip to the reefs further out for $130 pp. There is not reef there either and the are even less fish. 9. Every room in the hotel looks at 1-2 huge cruise ships a day obscuring the view of the ocean.
To be balanced, here are the things I liked. 1. Room and hotel are clean. 2. Weather was great everyday. 3. Renting scooter was fun way to zip around.
