So good I bought in
By: Richard B. Finazzo from Saint Louis, Missouri
Date of Visit: September 2002
We had a great time (our third trip). Resort is a bit secluded, just what we were looking for. You need a car or bike for most everything not at the resort (except golf). Lobster night was fantastic, with the entertainment. Grounds keeping was also nice with the pool, restaurant and adjacent grounds swept daily, even the sand. If you are looking for the hustle & bustle of a Cancun resort look elsewhere, there is always Seven Mile Beach for that. Dive staff was very helpfull even with the novice divers we had with our group. Try StringRay City with this facility for an un-hurried visit with personal attention for each visitor. Dive locations abound with lots of places to go right off the beach. Cemetary Beach is one of the favorites, please look for my Gold necklace that I lost there. On another note The Grand Caymanian had an internet connection off the main lobby, but I think that they now have them in the rooms (?). Our overall experiences there have been from Very Good to Excellent. This review is for the last year I visited the resort, it is not the only time I have been here. Just remember this 'Paradise costs a little more' rbf

GREAT RESORT - EVERYTHING YOU NEED!
By: Stan and Min Martin from Central Pennsylvania, USA
Date of Visit: November 2003
We just stayed at the Grand Caymanian and enjoyed it so much we bought a timeshare there! This resort is a short 5 minute drive from the main route that services Seven Mile Beach. It's set back on the North Sound in Crystal Harbor, with it's own beach on the Sound, or you can drive over to the public beaches on Seven Mile Beach, and shopping is just minutes away. This resort is fairly new - everything was in great shape. Quiet and serene, with all the amenities like Whirlpools and Jacuzzis and fully equipped Villas. All the hustle and bustle is within a short drive, if you want that to be part of your vacation. An upscale, up and coming area. Expect to have a nice stay at reasonable cost - we did.

Not so grand Caymanian
By: Anonymous from ny
Date of Visit: April 2003
This hotel is ok, nothing very special, when we were there in late april, it was pretty dead, the hotel resturant was almost empty every night. Although the food was good.
They have entertainers come but they could only muster about 5-10 guest to watch, perhaps it is busier at other times.
The hotel is really too far away from the main 7 mile beach, about 2 miles. They offer a shuttle but the times are not always convienent, so renting a car is almost mandatory, and therefore going out to have a glass of wine with dinner is not an option. (taxis are VERY expensive, about $25 to georgetown which is about 10 mins away. There is no beach at the hotel and swimming of shore is not very pleasant because of the large amount of sea weed, and murky water. Which is in marked contrast to the other side of the island on 7 mile beach.
The rooms are nice and the staff very freindly, so if all you want is to sit around a pool and not leave the hotel too often in a very quiet resort this place would be good for you.
It looks like some part is still being completed, it has a contsruction area that is hidden by a fence, no construction was happening.
