 I's just a hop, skip and cha-cha-cha to the friendly town of Playa del Carmen and the ferry to Cozumel (a 30-minute ride). At Casa Co'lel Luna you can relax in your hammock and enjoy the cooling breeze and stunning views of ocean, sky, trees and your next-door neighbor--the ancient Mayan ruin of Xaman Ha. Green lawns, bright flowers and tall, shady trees surround Casa Co'lel Luna. It offers many amenities, including satellite TV, VCR/DVD, stereo, telephone, all kitchen appliances (including microwave), washer & dryer, and wheelchair accessibility on the ground floor. All rooms have terraces and are cooled by ocean breezes and ceiling fans. Two bedrooms are air conditioned. Maid service is provided 3 days a week (or more on request).
Our second home, Casa Balam y T'ul (Jaguar and Rabbit House) is a 3-plus bedroom, 4 bath gem of a home located in the secure gated community of Playacar. The location is perfect--just a minute's walk to our beautiful beach and a 10-minute walk to the charming town of Playa del Carmen. There are three bedrooms, each with queen bed and private bath, and a cozy living room-kitchen. Additonal sleeping space for older children or teenagers is provided by bunkbeds in a separate area with its own bath. The spacious master suite features a breezy terrace where you can relax in your hammock and enjoy views of lush greenery and the turquoise Caribbean. There are many lovely terraces, patios, and garden areas for relaxing and socializing. Amenities include fully equipped kitchen--including microwave, blender, coffee maker and toaster oven, washer/dryer, and satellite TV. All rooms are cooled by ceiling fans and the ocean breeze. Drinking water, bed linens, and towels are provided. Maid service is provided three days a week or more by arrangement.
The houses share a jewel-like swimming pool. Designed as a cenote (ceh-NO-tay)--a natural freshwater pool, it features two waterfalls and two shallow play pools. The area is planted with lush tropical trees and shrubs, including hibiscus, frangi-pani, birds of paradise, and a variety of palms.

 About Playa del Carmen: This friendly town, just 40 minutes from the Cancun airport, manages to be both relaxed and lively. It offers beautiful, clean beaches with warm, turquoise water; fine restaurants of all varieties; and shops of all kinds: arts and crafts, jewelry, clothing, furniture, and more. Music is everywhere… mariachi, marimba, reggae, rock, and the music of indigenous Americans as well. Food markets, banks, medical services, video stores, dive shops, bike rentals, and many other services are readily available. At Playacar you will find a magnificent Robert Von Hagge golf course, tennis courts, and the fascinating Xaman Ha Aviary. The ferry to Cozumel departs frequently from the nearby dock; the trip takes about 30 minutes.
The area offers great opportunities for recreation and exploration, including the nearby Robert Von Hagge championship golf course in Playacar and the ancient ruins of Tulum, Coba and Chichen Itza. The island of Cozumel is just a 35-minute ferry ride from the nearby dock. Cancun is a 45-minute drive away. Xcaret and Xelha are eco-parks well worth your visit. Snorkeling and diving opportunities abound on the coast's amazing reefs and in the lagoons and cenotes.
