Beware the Bait and Switch

We signed up for a land/air package on the Granaway's Web site. Although our card was charged we were told they could not honor the cost offered.(Offered by their Web site mind you) We agreed on a price $50 per night higher. ($160) Which I confirmed by e-mail. We had an enjoyable stay until checkout when I found that we had been charged $195 per night for our room. The owner gave us several stories as to why this was, including: 1) We upgraded to a larger room. (We did not. The room we stayed in was the one we discussed from the beginning.) 2) There was an additional charge for my child (They knew in advance we were a family of three. Number of people in your party is part of their online signup) 3) We were getting a good deal at $195 per night and should be happy.
We have tried to talk to them. We have shown them the e-mail confirming $160 per night and their response. Yet all we get is the runaround. Currently we have filed a complaint with the Bermuda Department of Tourism.
It is unfortunate. The Granaway is a lovely house that conveys Bermuda's unique charm. Unfortunately, when we remember that trip, we will remember the dishonesty of the owner who is trying to take advantage of our family.
