Horrific Disappointment
By: Elle from New York, NY

We thought we'd have a nice "boutique" resort experience, considering the price and the promises. Instead, we found ourselves in a mosquito infested work area sitting on reclaimed land. We complained to the owner about the constant noise of the construction, the unbelievably bad food, and the coatings of mosquito bites. He told us, "you can move but I'm not giving you and money back," and then suggested we use Avon's skin so soft so that the bugs couldn't bite.
This place really should be condemned, and I suspect the owner is wanted for fraud in at least one country. Its absolutely embarrassing how terrible this place is.

Avoid Soulshine
By: Mike Roth from Canaan, New York
Date of Visit: January 2006
A very overpriced resort for what you get-or don't get. Count out peace and quiet as there is an open-air disco right across the canal, which means you are subject to boat noise at all hours. Beach is a joke, as was the food. Does not cater to vegetarians as claimed. Resort is currently for sale and owner not putting much more effort into the place.

A Gem of a Resort!
By: Chris & Megan from Memphis, Tennessee
Date of Visit: December 2003
Having just returned from our third stay at Soulshine, we felt it was time to share with the world our little gem of a resort we found on the tip of the Placencia peninsula. We've found what we've come to call our home away from home in Soulshine Resort.
Todd and his staff have always treated us more like family than guests. Taking care of all our arrangements for tours and trips as well as putting fresh flowers all thru our cabana, even spelling out Happy Birthday in flower petals on our bed for my 30th birthday. So many little things, done with such warmth and sincerity, its obvious you've come across somewhere very special.
The food at Soulshine is quite possibly some of the best cuisine we've had in all our travels, and being a vegetarian was no problem....They have a spa room for all kinds of treatments & massages, as well as a hot tub and a swimming pool.
There is nothing better than to lay in the hammocks on the dock out in the lagoon. We've seen manta rays, manatees, and dolphins in the lagoon as well as tons of beautiful fish & starfish. Definitely use the kayaks at the resort and paddle all thru the magroves around the resort..
Soulshine is definitely the place to stay in Belize, hands down!
