I visited Hickatee Cottages during the final stages of construction earlier this year, and have definite plans to return! It’s a great location (best of both worlds) – a jungle setting, but only a mile from Punta Gorda, so easy access to town, and for trips to the Cayes or inland to the villages, Mayan ruins and the jungle.
Punta Gorda doesn't really have a 'beach' but the Cayes are idyllic, and there is great snorkeling at the Snake Cayes. The cottages and restaurant are in the old ‘colonial’ style, cool, spacious and comfortable. All in all, a good base to explore Toledo, and great value for money.
