Oy Vey!
By: Anonymous from Dallas, Texas
Date of Visit: March 2005
Accomodations: Spartan but bearable. There is one TV and one airconditioner for the whole place, not one per room.
Food: The cook is very good at everyday food and excels at baked goods. Her cakes and pies are fantastic. The price for beer and soda is reasonable.
Diving: Shore diving requires a leap of faith. The reef wall lies across a heavily travelled boat channel. Crossing this at night is the most hair raising thing I did during the vacation. The diving itself could be better if the dive master would slow down and allow people to view the scenery (dive master was also resort owner, he seems to have difficulty retaining dive masters). Also not good at listening to hints, requests or demands. Poor customer service in general. Unusually for an SDI facility there is no nitrox capability at this resort. There is a great deal of sea life in this area but the focus of the owner is wall diving and he is very reluctant to accomodate alternative requests (As an example: if a request to stay above 40 feet and inshore of the reef wall to view and photograph aquatic life was made, the request was ignored (several times) and the dive proceeded immediately over the reef wall and down to 70 - 90 feet).
I will return to Roatan, but not to this resort as long as the present owner is in charge or in residence.
