Beautiful Hotel, Service Leaves Something to Be Desired
By: Anonymous from Arlington, Virginia
Date of Visit: May 2007
We stayed at The Crane with 25 friends of ours for our wedding in May. The hotel itself is beautiful, the food is really wonderful, the beach is absolutely stunning and the boogie boarding I'm told is fantastic fun. Everything was perfect as far as that goes. The drawback was the service. If only the service were good, the place would be absolute heaven. Called room service for breakfast, waited 2 hours, called back and was told there was no order for breakfast from our room. Okay, ordered lunch instead. But the worst experience was dinner reception after the wedding when three of our guests never received a dinner. They were locals and needed to get home to bed for school the next day and work so they left without being fed although we were sitting there at dinner for FOUR hours. That's unreal to me. They'd known we were coming and would be a large dinner party for months. There seemed to be no advance preparation for the big group at all, which surprised me for staying at a nice hotel at a relatively high price. The flowers we ordered through the hotel for our wedding attendants also never arrived and I had gone over the preparations in advance of the wedding at least five times. All in all it was a beautiful wedding, but the setting was the reason for it, not the service received. Also, I'm still dealing with an unauthorized charge appearing from the hotel on my credit card after my stay so if you stay there, be sure to cancel your card when you get back home to avoid being charged more than what you owe.

The Crane

I love staying at the crane so much so that I have returned 5 times now and am currently planning my next stay. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The atmosphere is laid back, definately for those people who are bored of stuffy hotels which lack character and the decor and layout are the same no matter what country you are in.

very sub standard hotel
By: Anonymous from montreal
Date of Visit: October 2004
we stayed here for two weeks in november 2004. it was promoted as a first rate hotel with several restaurants, including a japanese. the in room barbados magazine had a glowing review of the hotel, mentioning the japanese dining, the lift to the beach and generally patting itself on the back. The Japanese restaurant was not open, not even built, likewise the lift to the beach. The hotel is a shambles, like a building site, the hot water functioned on only two days out of the two weeks. The building work was intolerable. The American children noisy and badly behaved. The pool furniture was tatty, only one unbrella. The beach furniture was tatty and the rickety stairs to the beach itself dangerous and not wheelchair friendly.
