Poor Service
By: Anonymous from Virginia
Date of Visit: April 2011
We arrived at the resort at about 5:30 p.m. There were no towels in the bathroom. The bathroom itself was very much in need of a renovation. The toilet was not secured to the floor. We reported it and it was repaired. The room was very old and used looking. We had a concierge suite. At all 3 other Sandal Resorts we have stayed at a concierge suite meant we had full room service. Not so at The Royal Bahamian. You needed to be in a Butler suite for that. Instead we had cards to hang on our door to get breakfast served to the room. They actually ran out of cards at one point! We had to constantly call housekeeping to replace the wine in the fridge. The resort itself is very nice and the private island was the best place to go. One night there was a beach party on the island and all but 3 of the 8 restaurants were closed without notifying the guests. We end ed up eating fish and chips in the so called English pub. Not our idea of what we should be eating. The following evening there was a one hour wait at most restaurants. We ended up eating at the buffet at Spices. It was awful. The food was not bad but could have been better. For lunch one day I ordered 2 eggs, bacon and toast and asked for the eggs to be well done. They were served almost raw, even the egg whites were runny. Also there was very little in terms of evening entertainment, so be prepared to sit at the bars and drink or go to your room and watch tv.

Most Romantic Resort
By: Maribeth1234 / maribeth1234 from Delran, New Jersey
Date of Visit: April 2010
Wow! My Husband and I just got back from Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort and were so pleased with our stay that I wanted to post a review. We have been to two other Sandals Resorts (Sandals Grande in Saint Lucia and Sandals Royal Carribean in Montego Bay, Jamaica) and Sandals Royal Bahamian is definitely my favorite! The cleanliness of this resort is remarkable. You could eat off of any floor in the resort! The food at this resort was also the best out of the three we have been to. Every restaurant was outstanding. This resort had something unique at night on the beach. There are loveseats lined up on the beach with firepits at your feet. It was so romantic to sit at night with my Husband and gaze over the water. The service at this resort is your typical Sandals service--you are treated like royalty at all times, they never want you to lift a finger. I also really enjoyed the restaurant The Pier, you are actually eating on the water under the stars. My Husband and I enjoyed mouthwatering surf and turf at this restaurant. What a treat. We also booked a candlelight dinner on the beach and watched the sunset while being served with white glove service. This resort also has an offshore Island that you can take a quick boat ride out to. It was very impressive. Going out to the Island made it seem as though there were two resorts in one. This offshore Island was twice the size as the one at Sandals Royal Caribbean. My Husband and I like to snorkel and we actually saw the most fish on this trip than any of the others we have been on. The water is so clear in the Bahamas. I definitely would recommend this resort to anyone. I can't wait to go back!

My favorite all inclusive resort
By: Sarah55555 / sarah55555 from mississauga, ontario
Date of Visit: April 2010
My boyfriend and I had just spent the most amazing week at the Sandals Bahamian Spa in Nassau Bahamas. We have never stayed at a Sandals resort before and will now only do Sandals resorts. At the airport, the Sandals booth was very efficient and got us oriented on where we needed to go next. We were picked up by a stretch limo and taken to the resort where we were warmly greeted with lemon scented wet cloths and champagne. As soon as we stepped out of the limo Sandals immediately made us felt at ease and took care of our luggage and brought us to our luxurious room. We had the Royal Bahamian Ocean view Honeymoon Suite. There were breathtaking views everywhere. We got settled in right away and started to adventure the resort with the many features it had to offer. The private offshore island was paradise. The food was amazing with so many great restaurants to choose from. There were unlimited activities to participate in and everyone who was vacationing there was so friendly. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. By far this has been the best all inclusive experience that we have ever had! I can’t wait for our next getaway to Sandals!

AWFUL PLACE- DON'T GO!!
By: mrs m from arizona
Date of Visit: December 2009
So let me start off by saying a Honeymoon is something that is suppose to be hassle free and for some a time of luxury. This was unfortunately not the case for us. I have visited many All-Inclusive Resorts, regular resorts, hotels and even motels, so I have a really good grasp on traveling and customer service. I would never recommend this “resort” to anyone. Let me tell you about our week:
We arrive on a Sunday night after traveling ALL day. The resort check-in wasn’t busy at all so we sat down immediately. While we are signing the credit card info they come up to us and say that our Honeymoon Oceanview “Concierge” Suite isn’t available for the night due to OVERBOOKING! They told us that they “upgraded” us to a Butler Villa and if we like it we could stay there the entire time without any extra charges. SO we were happy about that and couldn’t wait to see this “spectacular” room. They put us in the Gardens area and our patio and view was the back of a trucking dock. So all night we heard Beep Beep Beep… It was terrible. The butler NEVER EVER showed up and no one really let us know how the resort works. The room was nice but NOTHING LIKE the pictures online of the rooms.
So the next morning we went to the Front Desk to change to our original room and they tell us its not ready, come back in an hour. We asked about the view of the room they were giving us and they said well we can show you a butler suite oceanview and also the honeymoon oceanview. So we sat there and watched about 20-40 people check in. We kept checking with them and they kept forgetting. Two hours later they tell us we can’t see the butler suite because it’s occupied but they can take us to our room. They assured us it was a “SPECTACULAR” room again and we will be so pleased. We walked in and the room was not what I ordered online and the view was better than the last but not a REAL oceanview suite. So beware if you still want to book at this “resort.”
The champagne, rose petals, and chocolates were NEVER there upon our arrival as promised; we didn’t even have champagne glasses in the room. There were things missing and the maids hardly ever cleaned anything. THE CONCIERGE SERVICE THAT YOU PAY FOR IS A FLAT OUT JOKE! They were never ever there and never answered the phone. Every time we needed something we just dialed zero because someone would eventually answer. The staff was really rude at the concierge and restaurants. However, the bellman were very friendly as were other staff members.
No room service exists besides a basket of old danishes and fruit. The lack of attentiveness and responsibility from the resort is very apparent. They cannot handle that many people at one time. They ran out of seafood, wine, and hardly ever apologized. The food was not great by any means and the portions were very tiny. I’ve been to many All-Inclusive’s and this one missed the marked on food quite a bit. The restaurants aren’t open all the time and the scuba diving is $400-600 a person; NOT $70!
Their website is false advertising and they don’t cater to people at all unless you have a butler suite. And even then its not that great. We met many couples that had the same story if not worse. I just hope that you don’t make the same mistake that we did… These were only a handful of problems… The little stuff isn’t even worth mentioning at this point! This resort got all of its awards YEARS ago and it is not worth the money-AT ALL! And when it’s an important trip like a honeymoon- do not waste your time, money or expectations on this place……

Sandals Royal Bahamian
By: misterwlm / misterwlm from Oregon
Date of Visit: September 2009
My wife and I stayed at Sandals Royal Bahamian from 9-19-09 to 9-26-09. Before you read on, some information about us so you can judge the validity of this review. First, we travel a lot and are always unbiased when we do decide to write a review. Secondly, we are in our early 40’s and have done enough traveling to recognize the good from the bad. Lastly, we're experienced divers who can accurately assess the scenery and the dive operation.
Up front, I’ll say that our 8 night stay Royal Bahamian was fantastic! This was our second trip to The Bahamas (first to Sandals RB) in the last few years. Our experience has been that the Bahamians are some of the nicest in the Caribbean and this trip was no exception. We upgraded our room to receive butler service and highly recommend you do the same if possible. Melissa and Shanequewa were wonderful! They were never overbearing, but always there if we needed or wanted anything.
In general, the service at the resort was very high on the grounds and in the restaurants. Not once did we walk by any employee during our stay who failed to say “Hello” with a big smile as they passed. The service in the restaurants was very good during our stay as was the service at the pools and on the beach. There were always servers asking us if we needed anything from a drink to fresh towels. I’ve read many reviews on Sandals Resorts and the one common thread across all is the food. We’ve found that Sandals will always give you a great vacation (we’ve been to 5 of their properties) but the food is probably 4 out 5 stars. Again, it’s good, but if you want 5 Star, be prepared to add $$$ to your vacation destination wherever it is you choose to go.
The grounds were maintained very well…I’d put the resort condition up against just about any other Caribbean property we’ve seen. The gardens, lawns and beaches were in impeccable condition. This resort is probably 12 years old, but maintained very well.
Our dive experience was a pleasure. I did 12 dives during my stay and every one was handled professionally (and I watch the operators carefully). Ryan and Donathan on the dive boat took great care to make sure the less experienced divers were safe and had a nice time. They were also quick to realize the more experienced divers and although had control of the group, allowed the experienced divers a little latitude to explore. Some who read this may not understand, but if you’re those guys and have a group of 12 to 15 divers (half I would consider inexperienced) you almost have to tailor to the diver with the lowest skill level. If you’ve got a lot of dives and years under your belt and are used to heading out on your own, be forewarned.
Again, we had a great time at Royal Bahamian and certainly got our money’s worth out of it! We would rate them a solid A- based on our travel experience and plan to return sometime in the future!

Below expectations
By: Ryan Collins from Parkersburg, WV
Date of Visit: September 2007
My wife and I went to the Royal Bahamian for our honeymoon. We were so excited after looking at the brochures and all of the pictures and descriptions on the internet. The resort and the experience did not live up to the descriptions nor our expectations. We paid for concierge service that we couldn't use because the attendants would NEVER answer the phone. We didn't have hot water for THREE days and in a nut-shell the trip was extremely over priced for the experience that we had. We have stayed at better quality hotels for 1/4 of the price. I would not recommend this resort. The only positive was that the staff was very nice overall.

Beware of Sand Fleas - but a great place
By: Linda Simmons from dallas, tx
Date of Visit: December 2006
The facilities were great and the restaurants even better. There is a private island off shore for more privacy. Lots to do - had a great holiday ... except for the sand fleas on the beach. They don't tell you, but take bug spray with you. It took 3 weeks for my bites to stop itching.
