Peace and hospitality

My boyfriend and I just returned from a week at the British Colonial Hilton in Nassau. We were looking for a quiet and romantic getaway, without screaming kids and conga lines. We found it.
The BCH is a first class traditional hotel located on a private beach overlooking Nassau harbour. It's quiet, serene and superbly appointed. The rooms are small, but furnished in traditional British Colonial stylings. The bathrooms are huge and gorgeous. Staff is attentive and willing. Couldn't ask for nicer people. The front desk were efficient, and met with any request. (Late check out, additional key for visiting guest etc.) The concierge was very helpful, and followed up with us on how we enjoyed our outtings.
The property is quiet, with hammocks, gazebo, relaxing pool, bar/grill and beach service. We tipped the wait staff when we got our first drink on the beach, and they checked on us throughout the day.
In the evening, the Jay Mitchell band plays in the Palm Court. You can dance in your partners arms all nite while they croon the oldies, some soca/calypso and great R&B.
Tour staff set us up on the Robinson Crusoe tour, which was great, they put together a Dive trip, Moonlight sail and trip to a private island. We had a blast.
This is a terrific place for those who don't want to be bothered by tourist. We had the most relaxing, but adventurous trip we've experienced in a long time.

rude management

Although this landmark has been renovated, the management of this roach infested hotel are arrogant and rude. The rooms are small, the food is terrible, and the beach is located on the harbour. We love to travel and are not overly picky. Too many roaches in the rooms. The housekeeping and waitstaff were wonderful...but, the management should be replaced ASAP. Nassau is not for us. Whole town shuts down at sunset.
