Fowl Cay- A recently developed private island resort in Exuma Bahamas - Rentable by the House - affordable, all-inclusive pricing covers house, food, drink, boat, equipment, and facilities.
Located only 70 mi. SE of Nassau and 240 mi. SE of Miami, Fowl Cay is approximately midway down the Exuma Island chain, yet remains unspoiled. It provides a venue for those who want a unique getaway in the incredible Bahamian Out-Islands.
The name Fowl Cay traces back over 100 years when the cay was used to raise chickens in this part of the Bahamas providing food to the local population.
Fowl Cay is a 50-acre island owned entirely by one couple who live much of the year on the island. The cay generates its own electricity and makes its own excellent water from the sea, just to mention a few of the primary infrastructure items that make it self-sustaining with the exception of food.
Most food is flown in weekly from Nassau, and you will enjoy the freshest seafood from our local waters.
The Hill House dining room seats 24 for dinners which combine continental and Bahamian food.
The waters surrounding this wonderful out-island defy description. Crystal clear and breathtaking in color, they range from the deepest sapphire blue to the palest turquoise. Waves lap gently on the soft, white sand beaches of Fowl Cay where you can spend your days lazing in the warm Bahamian sun.
Hidden beneath these warm waters is a world of fascinating coral reefs and sea life. Fowl Cay is just a few miles outside the 112,000-acre Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park that is home to enormous populations of this protected sea life. Conch, octopus, turtles, giant starfish, spiny lobsters, tuna, dolphin, grouper, barracuda, rays and tropical fish are a few of the creatures that share the waters surrounding Fowl Cay.
When you wish upon a star.... Transportation on the cay is by golfcart (or walking) and between cays by boat. Both a cart and a boat (17' with a 65 H.P. motor and Bimini top) are part of your house rental package.
Fowl Cay has two full time managers who live on the island. In addition, a small local staff that travels to the Cay from neighboring islands handles the daily operations.
Our facility lends itself to vacations for families - small or large (up to 18 people), couples or small corporate retreats and seminars. If additional accommodations are needed for groups larger than 18, we can put you in touch with contacts on nearby islands. |
You will select your food, beer, wine, liquor and soda choices from our list of items available in the Bahamas. They will be stocked in your house per your request. You will prepare breakfast and lunch at your leisure in your own full kitchen. Cocktails and dinner are served at the Hill House prepared by our cook. Occasionally visiting yachtsmen and local folks will join us for dinner. One night per week either cook at your own house or, if you would like to treat yourself, we will provide transportation to a nearby restaurant so our staff can have a night off and you can sample other cuisine.
Our housekeeper will have your house spic and span when you arrive including fresh linens throughout. Due to the very limited availability of staff, as well as our mindfulness about the conservation of our water supply, we do not change your beds during the week unless, of course, you make a special request. Our central laundry facility is available at certain times to you for washing personal clothing if you wish.
Stay with us on Fowl Cay for as long as you like; however, the minimum rental period is generally one week. When available, partial week rentals may be reserved no sooner than three weeks in advance. Turnover day is Saturday. The per-person price (listed in the Pricing tab) includes your house, linens, food, all beverages (including alcohol), boat, golf cart, and all of Fowl Cay's facilities and equipment. |
