The Orchid Display House is a new feature, which will showcase some of our native orchids and some showy tropical hybrids.
The orchid family is one of the largest families of plants with well over 20,000 described species. In Trinidad and Tobago, the family is extremely well represented with almost 200 species recorded.
Most orchids are found in the tropics. They can be either epiphytic or terrestrial. Our display house will showcase orchids from different climatic zones within the tropical region.
The work of the Botanic Gardens is supported by an active Friends of Botanic Gardens Association which meets every month.
