Summary:Pedro St. James "Castle", a National Historic Site is the Cayman Islands newest tourist attraction
Description: Pedro St. James was built in 1780 by William Eden and has been completely restored to be the centre of this historic site. This great house is the Birthplace of Democracy in the Cayman Islands as the first government was formed in the building in 1831.
The picturesque site, with a spacious lawn area and an intimate quadrangle, can be rented for meetings or social functions. It is equipped with high-quality tables, chairs and tents and can confortably accommodate as many as 400 persons.
In addition, the spacious grounds now include a state-of-the-art Multi-Media Theatre and a Gift Shop.
As one walks the site you will view the beautiful gardens and other restored buildings. There are interpretive signs throughout the "castle" and grounds which provide the history and description of the site.
Multi-Media Theatre
You'll experience chills and thrills at the lightning and thunder storm right in the theatre! Rain water courses down the eaves troughs and into the rain barrels! A twenty-minute film of The History of Pedro "Castle" will enchant you with its authentic setting and real-life drama!
