Description: A small island that rests at the tip of Quintana Roo, Isla Holbox is four hours north (including the ferry ride) of Cancun and offers a tranquil and romantic getaway. The are no paved roads, village residents bustle around on electric golf carts. The gulf side of the island is bounded by long sandy beaches where birds gather in the sun. Shell collectors will have a grand time selecting favorite specimens from the seashell strewn beaches. The hotels take in the afternoon breezes from the Gulf of Mexico which keeps the island cool. It’s laid back and an ideal getaway even for the day and it depends on your definition of romance and reflection - this just might be it.
