There are two campgrounds in the US Virgin Islands National Park (Cinnamon Bay Campground and Maho Bay) for those wanting to experience nature Caribbean style. Camp sites on St. John consist of bare sites, tent covered platforms, and environmentally friendly cottages. Cooking ware and bed sheets are sometimes offered. Restaurants are available at some campgrounds, as well as showers and restrooms. Camping is much less expensive and offers more of a unique experience than other types of accommodations. Sites usually fill up quick and reservations are almost always required.. NOTE: Camping is permitted only in designated sites. Camping is restricted on park land to Cinnamon Bay Campground. Accommodations include bare tent sites, sites with tent covered platforms already set up, and cottages. Prepared camp sites and cottages are equipped with cooking utensiles & bed linens. There is also a general store with food items, camp supplies, and includes a cafeteria. Because this site is so popular, reserve well in advance. There is a maximum stay of two weeks at Cinnamon Bay. Contact Info:

Facilities includes a camp store and dining area where meals are served. There are 114 Tent-cottages which the New York Times called, "Best Value in the Caribbean". There are beautiful beaches, hiking trails & amazing views of the ocean. Other features include a restaurant, beach-cafe, water-sports, craft programs, nightly entertainment and more. Enjoy kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, snorkeling and scuba diving. Massage, yoga, National Park presentations, weddings, live music and other activities are available. Bathhouses, which are located conveniently, offer modern, low-flush toilets and pull-chain showers which are connected to a water recycling program which irrigates the surrounding vegetation. Virgin Islands National Park on St. John, well known throughout the world for its amazing beauty, covers approximately 3/5 of the island, and almost all of Hassel Island located at Charlotte Amalie harbor on St. Thomas. The park offers crystal blue-green waters brimming with coral reefs and sea life, sandy beaches sheltered by seagrape trees, coconut palms. Visitors to the National Park will find tropical forests providing habitat for over 800 species of plants. Relics from the Pre-Colombian Amerindian Civilization can also be found including; remains of the Colonial Sugar Plantations, and reminders of slavery and the subsistence culture that followed during the 100 years after Emancipation. Though 'good and bad' each adds to the rich cultural history of the Park and its island home.
