Great Island..Great Place...Great People....

The Latest Great Escape

Have you ever gone on a trip, fell in love with the destination, planed a return trip, went back and was TOTALLY BUMMED OUT???? That is usually the case if you do not learn anything from your first visit. However, I have found my own personal Paradise that has never let me down.
How is that possible? Simple. The first trip you take, observe the people, the customs, the "flow", the setup. If you like what you see, go back and start to fit in. Do not go there and try to demand "New York Style" service or "McDonalds" service speed; it ain't gonna happen, Chum. Besides, if that is what you want, stay home. To me, it is the different cultural feel of a destination that is one of the most important determining factors to consider when you ask yourself "Did I enjoy my stay or did I just blow $2,000?"

St. Croix Insights
Pros: "Not Americanized. There is not a Mcdonalds, Burger King, or chain gas station on each corner. Several great restuarants that are not overly impressed with themselves. Rum Runner and Tutti Bene in Christiansted, and "Off the Wall" on the North Shore."
Cons: "There are pockets of poverty as there are on all Caribbean Islands. I hear that there is crime but I have been there over a dozen times and have not witnessed any. Just be aware, employ common sense, and avoid the kind of places you would avoid at home."
In a Nutshell: "A Caribbean island that has not been overdeveloped and has not one but two great towns that, if you were to close your eyes and envision a Caribeban town back in the times of Pirates and Swashbucklers, you would envision Christiansted & Frederiksted."
