Glory Cruise April 2006

Me, Mike, KoKo, David, and Becky got off the ship and grabbed our taxi driver from last year, Carmoly Webster. We drove around the Dutch side of the island, Sint Maarten, and arrived on the French side for our visit to Orient Beach.

Becky and I immediately signed up for parasailing, Mike reserved a jet ski, and David got us some chairs and umbrellas. It was cloudy at first--and very hot. A quick swim later, it was time to meet our group to parasail. We waited FOREVER to go out into the water, then rode around a little rubber dingy with a stinky French guy while the parasail crew continually screwed up. Needless to say, we did not parasail. Mike really enjoyed his jet ski though.

Arrived back on shore tired, aggravated, and sunburnt. Grabbed a smoke, beer, and demanded (and received) a refund ($95 for two). We laid around the beach, grabbed another beer, and it was time to get the taxi back to Philipsburg. Carmoly was waiting for us once again.

We were dropped off on Front Street right in front of some open air morket places and a great little smoke shop. Got some souvenirs and really cheap cigs ($12 a carton). Then KoKo and Dave went back by water taxi to Glory, and me, Beck, and Mike placed an order at the Barefoot Restaurant. Really good!! Some woman approached us with cool beach bags, so of course we bought them!! Mike did check out a casino, not much going on though--very small!

Water taxied back to the ship, bought a bottle of Rum Jumbie, took some shots of the Victory, and got back on board. Our rum was confiscated!! Oh well.

Victory Cruise--2005

Our first time on this wonderful island, we did our own thing. Got off the ship, went to the taxi stand, and jumped in a cab with some other people for the two hour island tour. Carmoly was our driver. Tracy, Roy, and their kids and some Chinese couple were our tour mates!

We went all over the island--to a Fort, by a golf course destroyed by a hurricane and never rebuilt, the airport, shopping for souvenirs and coconuts in Marigot, and finally Orient Beach to have a look at the nudes!! Wow--most of them should absolutely not walk around naked!!

We were dropped off in Philpsburg, on Front Street, and hit the beach by the water taxis. We swam and then ordered lunch from the Barefoot Restaurant. Good!! Chairs were like five bucks each with an umbrella. A lady did come around selling these great little wraps, and I bought one and love it.

Jumped the water taxi back over to the port, took a picture with the shark, had a drink at the Rum Jumbie shack, and bought a bottle to take home!
