Accommodations Tip: "Peace and Quiet"
I did quite a bit of research before picking Biras Creek. We knew we wanted to try Virgin Gorda after several trips to Tortola. We considered The Bitter End as well as Little Dix Bay, but decided on Biras. We were happy we did, the resort looked just like all the pictures in the brochure and website.
Each suite was in a duplex and was very secluded. The hotel was full, but we never saw nor heard our neighbors. The view was fantastic and the room spotless. We found two complementary robes and a complementary selection of drinks in our refrigerator. The bedroom was air conditioned. Two bicycles were provided for getting around the resort.
Meals were quite good. Breakfast started at 8:00 am, lunch at 1:00 pm and dinner at 7:00 pm. Lunch was a buffet on the beach most days. Dinner featured a rotating menu with several appetizer and entrée choices. There was entertainment on three nights: Saturday a steel band, and on Tuesday and Thursday, a solo singer. We enjoyed great sunsets at the bar before dinner.
The resort had numerous activities available. There was a resident assistant in the restaurant each morning, to help you with tours, diving or reserve a Boston Whaler dinghy to run about the North Sound. There were lots of nice secluded beaches, several had good snorkeling. Biras will pack a lunch to take with you if you let them know the night before. Tuesday morning, Dive BVI holds a free resort course in the pool. After completing this, you can go out on a reef dive for about $100.
On the property, there were numerous paths that guests could hike and beautiful gardens to enjoy. Several paths go up the mountain and one goes to the Bitter End Yacht Club.
On the beach there were numerous rafts, hobie cats, sunfish, windsurfers and kayaks. There was an instructor to assist you at no charge. The beach was not crowded and was peaceful. One evening we took a sunset sail. There was also a shuttle boat that can take you to main road to meet a taxi or pick up a rental car.
The only thing we didn’t like was leaving Biras Creek. It was beautiful and quiet. The room was very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Everything was perfect.
