Had to escape Resort Kura Hullanda restaurants. Restaurant was 20 Km. down the road but the drive was well worth it. Apps & entrées were to die for, especially given the difficulty of getting fresh foodstuffs. Entrées were seafood au gratin casserole & medium rare rib eye. The side veggies were delicious and creatively presented. Staff was very responsive. Granted it was off-season, but the professionalism was so good this would be a great place anytime.

Becouse the entree 9antipasti) of one of us (4 peoples) was forgotten, the rest waited.
After 30 minutes they came to tell us that someting went wrong in the kitchen and we hadto wait another 3 minutes. 15 min. later they brought a (false) main course instead of the ordered entree so we had to wait some more.
Finaly we became what we ordered and it tasted fine.
But the main course came immediately after we finished the entree and tasted like it had been standing some time in the kitchen. The oven dishes where burned at the top and the fried calamares where slushy.
Regarding the prices they charged for it and the poor excuses for the bad service i can not rate more than Poor.

I just came to live on the island and it is a great island.
Since I work close to Hooks Hut this is the place I visit frequently.
Unfortunately, the service is bad.
Management is not so good, a place runned by Dutch people is expected to run better with much better service. It takes so long befor an order can be placed. Even if tables have been reserved in advanced...
Some of the staff girls are really nice and know well what they are doing but others absolutely not...completely rude.
Out of this world that a restaurant with such a good name runs like this. My advice, go but do not expect too much, avoid the Sundays since the kitchen food is really bad compared with other days.

Zeer slechte ervaring met dit restaurant. Er zat een stuk glas in mijn eten, dan verwacht je ook wel een goed excuus van personeel / eigenaar, maar deze kan beter een snackbar beginnen.
Hij handelde het zeer makkelijk af met een drankje van het huis, en "iemand van mijn personeel heeft ook weleens glas in zijn hand gehad". En "het zit hier toch al vol genoeg"
Arrogantie straalde er inderdaad vanaf.

My friend and I stopped to grab a bite to eat before we went off on a snorkeling trip. We had an hour and a half to kill. Hemingway looked like a very nice restaurant..
The waitress brought over a menu which was in dutch. We ordered 2 simple sandwiches - Steak and Hamburger. The waitress talked to the guests next to us, asking how they were doing, where they went for fun. They commented on her fingernails and asked where she had then done. They had a few laughs and were served very quick. The waitess then took our order...she came back 1 time because we caught her before she left to get another drink. She then never came back. We asked where our order was.. she acted surprised and as if she did not understand English. Prior..we had a full conversation in English. We asked for the manager..they both came back to talk.. the waitess acted like she didnt know who we were and the manager did not care in the least that we were not served. To get food quickly went went across the waterway and grabbed a few burgers and ran to catch the boat.
Fast service?? HA!
2 visits... food always in an hour or more!
