Restaurant Tip: "Delicious food under a stunning Caribbean sunset!"
We had several great evenings at the Boathouse-deck during our Curaçao(Papagayo Resort)holiday. The view over the Spanish Waters and all the boats is fantastic! The staff is very attentive and half Dutch/half native just like the island itself, a nice combination. Each Wednesday Boathouse serves an Indonesian Buffet: "Bali Night". You really need to see and taste this.
Type of Restaurant: French
Favorite Dish: Goatcheese salad, local fishes as Mula, Tuna & Red Snapper and the Bali Night!
Directions/Location: Near Jan Thiel, Papagayo, Livingstone, Chogogo & Jan Sofat! You can follow the road-signs from Caracasbaaiweg.

Sjalotte

Restaurant Tip: "What an experience"
During our stay we visited Sjalotte three times. The a la carte meal was good, offering good value for money. The daily menu was very good and a surprise to us. The third meal was the absolute knock-out. The chef served a number of different courses, some classics with a twist that made them totally different from what we were used to. Added to that were some new recipies (peanut/pumpkin soup!) that surpised me very much. The wines offered in Sjalotte are very good. The staff will help you pick the right bottle for you. This restaurant will be setting the standard for Curacao.
Type of Restaurant: Fine Dining
Favorite Dish: Let the kitchen improvise, sit back and enjoy!

Aqua Restaurant: In Curacao "An okay place to eat"

Aqua Restaurant
Restaurant Rating:

Restaurant Tip: "An okay place to eat"
This restaurant served average food in a pretty location. The restaurant is covered, but the sides are open (I guess it would be semi open-air?) You get a very nice breeze that keeps you comfortable while you eat, but you don't get pounded by the sun or rained on. The surroundings are very pretty, and when the Hilton has dancers (once a week) or a band, you are right there for it.
The food is very much average. There is nothing that screams Caribbean. Flavor is nothing to right home about, but you do get decent portion sizes for the money. However, the Beach Bar and Grill, which is ten steps away, has the same (as well as a few more) options for lunch and are priced less.
Aqua is closed on Sundays, so be prepared, and when they have the beach bbq nights, they close as well.
The breakfast was pretty good, but they do not have a lot of fresh fruit. It was a mix of American style and Dutch style breakfast. You have the eggs, to-order omelettes, bacon, sausage, etc., as well as fresh bread and Dutch cheeses. WHen you go in for breakfast, they don't mention that there is a cold and a hot selection, which differ in price, but it is only $2 more to get everything, so why not.
Type of Restaurant: Casual Dining
Price: US$11-20
Favorite Dish: Breakfast was the best. If you are staying at the Hilton, it is a convenient place to eat, and less expensive than the Italian restaurant (also so-so) at the hotel.
We never had to wait to get a table, but dont wait until you are starving. The servers take Caribbean time seriously, and you will have a good wait before you are served.
Directions/Location: Hilton Hotel-Piscadera Bay
