This place is a must stop! Phil and Lynn along with there crew are very down to earth. The bar's atmosphere is top for the causal stoll in! This is also one of the local hang-outs, with all types of life and interesting folk. If your looking for that little place on the side; this is it!

Mr. Busby's Beach Bar: In St. Maarten "Not worth the trip"

Mr. Busby's Beach Bar
Restaurant Rating:

Restaurant Tip: "Not worth the trip"
We decided to try Mr. Busby's Beach Bar - as we were walking in we heard a man saying that he would never go back again - but we saw the banner with the awards they received for a couple years in a row and were tired and decided to give it a go. Big mistake. My husband ordered lobster bisque but tasted like a mixture of old bay and corn starch with no lobster that we could see- the soup didn't even have a cream base. The calamari was overly fried reminicent of bad bar food. My mahi mahi was overcooked - although the carrots were good. My husband had a seafood creole dish said to be one of their specialties - it was positively awful. On the good side it is a nice setting near the water and the pino grigio was good. Don't plan to go back unless it is just for a drink.
Type of Restaurant: Casual Dining
Price: US$21-30
Favorite Dish: None - the wine

Restaurant Tip: "Consistently Amazing"
KokoMarina is one of the restaurant shacks on Orient Beach - it's a wonderful place for lunch. The food is french and quite surprising especially for something you would find on the beach. We have come here several years now and consistently have had better food here for lunch than a lot of the restaurants we've gone for dinner on the island. They also do $1 = 1 euro if you pay cash. The atmosphere is very casual (you can wear your bathing suit) but a bit more upscale than a lot of the other shacks on orient beach and a little bit hip.
Type of Restaurant: French
Price: US$11-20
Favorite Dish: Try one of their salads - the seafood salad has a ton of smoked salmon as well as some shrimp. The goat cheese salad is amazing as well.
Directions/Location: Orient Beach

Restaurant Tip: "Daniel's Italian- Excellent Food and Service"
We ate there four of the 9 nights we were there. The food is Italian and the menu recently changed. We intended to go there for hamburgers the night we arrived, but there are no hamburgers for dinner.
Instead they had an Italian menu with plenty of fish. They also had some excellent daily specials. I had red snapper, my husband had beef. The beef would melt in your mouth and the shrimp on top of the beef was cooked to perfection. Shrimp are usually over cooked so they are chewy. These were nice and tender.
I did not have any of the dishes that the other poster had, so I can't comment on those, but the snapper, shrimp, and beef were excellent.
It's on the beach and prices were actually $27-35, but there is not category for that.
Type of Restaurant: Italian
Price: US$21-30
Favorite Dish: Snapper Shrimp Key Lime desert

Restaurant Tip: "WAITER BUMMED US OUT"
The food was good, atmosphere casual (that's good), location was great as we were staying at the Royal Palm. We ate there our last night (there were 9 of us), and even though there was a 15% automatic gratuity put on the check (it even says so on the menu), when we asked our waiter Basil if tip was included, he said "no, that's the tax". Well, there is no tax. When my brother in law gave him his credit card, he asked Basil to bring the bill back; he did not. We didn't include any extra - the "tax" was already $40.00. Like I said this was our last night, and the only downer on our vacation.
