Restaurant Tip: "Mesa 17: Well Worth Finding"
A lot of foodie Cozumel regulars were saddened when La Cocay closed . . . but take heart!! Mesa 17, on Calle 17 (Sur) about 5 blocks up from the Malecon in the Corpus Christi neighborhood is a more than worthy replacement!
Trish and Glenn are truly gracious and welcoming owner/hosts, the setting remains untouristy and sublime, and the menu is far-removed from the usual Cozumel fare.
We ate there 3 nights during our recent week stay in Cozy -- probably would have gone more, had they not been closed Sunday and Monday, but we'll be back, as there are plenty more temptations on their menu we wish to try!
Glenn really does a fine job of combining classic technique, a playful sense of experimentation and fusing world cuisines, along with an insistance on using the best, freshest available local ingredients.
Favorite Dish: Yes, they had a fish dish (grouper when we were there), but theirs is yucca crusted to the lightest most delicate consistency imaginable and tops a vegetable polenta served in a tamale husk with a really outstanding assortment of sauteed (grilled?) fresh vegetables. Their brined pork, stuffed with blue cheese and prosciutto, is moist and wonderful (we repeated that on a second visit), and also comes with a terrific assortment of vegetables. Black bean hummous with plaintain chips was served as an opening 'amuse bouche' the nights we went.
Address: Calle 17 X 25 Ave. Sur
Directions/Location: Mesa 17, on Calle 17 (Sur) about 5 blocks up from the Malecon in the Corpus Christi.

Restaurant Tip: "La Choza Restaurant is Great"
Family owned and operated restaurant serving traditional Mexican food and Yucatecan specialties...
I love this place and try to stop in at least once each time I visit Cozumel. Good food, open air dining and reasonable prices make this a good pick. Also, many locals dine here - a good sign in my book and the wait staff has always been really good.
Corner of Calle A.R. Salas and Avenida 10 Hours: 7:00am to 11:00pm daily
Type of Restaurant: Mexican
Price: US$11 - US$20
Favorite Dish: Grilled garlic shrimp, Fajitas, Fish/Snapper and the tortilla soup. The Margaritas are tasty.

Restaurant Tip: "Great place to eat!"
Wonderful local restaurant. The food was excellent. The chicken in the black sauce was our favorite. We had an app, 2 entrees and 2 HUGE margaritas for $25! The service was great- though we don't speak Spanish so some things were a little difficult! But hey-that's not their fault! Don't let a coupon that will save you $3-$4 bucks ruin a great meal and atmosphere! We are looking forward to going back in June!
Type of Restaurant: Mexican
Price: US$11-20
Directions/Location: Downtown- somewhere! The cab driver suggested it and took us straight there!

Restaurant Tip: "Do not bother with coupon"
Food was ok, service not that great it could have been that the waitstaff was spread out too thin. We found a coupon in the internet for a free drink with meal, when it was presented it was not honored, something that I think a good reputable restaurant would never do. Will I ever go there probably not, I have been there before in previous trips, but no more.
