Especias

Restaurant Tip: "Especias"
This was the most amazing meal we had while in Cozumel for 1 week. We had some wonderful meals in other restaurants, but nothing compared to Especias. Adrian, the owner came to our table several times during the evening, telling us stories of how he began his restaurant, and other intesting things. He was so hospitable. The restaurant is small, so seating is limited. Reserve a table in advance. The prices are extremely reasonable. Way less than you'd expect to pay for similar food other places.
Type of Restaurant: French
Price: US$21-30
Favorite Dish: The Indian shrimp was a special the night we were there, as well as other shrimp dishes. Ours was very tasty. We also had a tenderloin. Wonderful food and equally wonderful presentation.
Directions/Location: Just two blocks away from the ocean front on 5th Street, right on the corner with 10th Avenue.

Restaurant Tip: " A Jewel"
This restaurant is a jewel in downtown San Miguel. It's located on a side street that you'd never know there was such classy dining there. We ate on the veranda which is very intimate with a fountain and foliage surrounding it. The food and service were exquisite. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Cozumel.

Wow what a wonderful hole in the wall. Great authentic Mexican food. The cactus and onion tacos were great. Watch out for the Green sauce it's really spicy. When you finish your meal aske for a marker and you can leave your name on the wall. As many have done before.
Type of Restaurant: Mexican
Price: less than US$10
Favorite Dish: Cactus and Onion Taco
Directions/Location: Off the main square near all the dive shops. Blink and you'll miss it.

Restaurant Tip: "Wishing I was there now...."
I am craving a trip to Cozumel while sitting in the chilly Chicago weather...and especially longing for a fabulous meal at La Veranda. The food is, as the card says, an "Unforgettable Caribbean Experience"...and the owners delightful and humble (not full of themselves) and great hosts! I've never been disappointed - and enjoy particularly the table side preparations and love to top it off with the mexican coffee - or bananas flambe' - or both! The seafood is fantastic! The atmosphere is unique, romantic and tranquil. There is no match for this place on Cozumel where I have stayed and dined for years - and always includes at least one stop at La Veranda - last time I visited there was a new art gallery opened next door that was delightful too! By the way, you'd pay three times as much for this is 'Chi' town!
Type of Restaurant: Fine Dining
Price: US$31-40
Favorite Dish: Shrimp or lobster prepared tableside. Great presentation and delightful!
Directions/Location: Just around the corner from Carlos & Charlies.
