Recommendations for good warm snorkel around Christmas?: Caribbean Forum

Hi, I would like to travel somewhere warm during Christmas, and I was thinking about the Caribbean, but I am really lost. I have been to Hawaii (Big Island) and I enjoyed the island so much that I would like to have a similar experience, if possible. I am a woman travelling on my own. I would like to go somewhere with warm water in december. If possible, with something else to do (night life, ruins, good food, anything exotic...), but the most important things to me are the easy access (I fly from San Diego which is already far enough) and the warm water with good snorkeling.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, it's me again; I guess "Caribbean" is too broad to ask for reccomendations. I found not-so-long-or-expensive flights to St. Martin, Jamaica (Montego area) or Riviera Maya. It looks like snorkeling would be good in any of these places, but, if you were me, would you go to any of these places instead of the others during Christmas? I'd love to visit any of them, which seem totally different cultures besides being touristic places. But I am wondering if there's anything I'm missing in order to choose, like if Akumal is too damaged by Wilma, or Negril or St. Martin are too crowded, or the water is cold in december, or any other tip that you could give me.

Saint Thomas would be lovely so would Puerto Rico! I went on a cruise in early December these ports were beautiful! I went to to Sapphire beach in St. Thomas and the water was warm and clear. You can also snorkle St. John just take the ferry from St.Thomas they have an underwater snokle trail just follow the signs and read about what fish you will be seeing. Good luck and happy cruising! Oh the ports will be decorated for the Holidays! San Juan had a lovely display in the town square.
