I think that one good thing to do would
be to expose these people on TV so o-ther people won't be victims of this scam. I am planing to contact diffe-rent media to try to get them to ad-vise other people not to get involved
in this kind of a scam.

I WAS ABLE TO GET MONEY BACK.IT TOOK AWHILE BUT I GOT BACK EVERY PENNY THANKS TO BRYAN. I ALSO WAS GIVEN THE VACATION PACKAGE FOR FREE FOR ALL THE TROUBLE I HAD GETTING MY MONEY. I have an extensive package set up for a vacation with "Summerbay Resorts", and now I'm having trouble checking on reservations via. the www.beginmyvacation.com link. Please tell me I still have a paid vacation out there somewhere. No on is answering the 800 line either. I have paid for room upgrades, Disney World tickets, cruise associated fees, etc.

| Recently purchased a package with summerbay and the only problem I've had is a bit of a language barrier(broad scottish!)Any problems i've have been dealt with, no problem. Finding this message board freaked me out a bit but donna has reassured me!!Lookin forward to it and hope others get what they paid for or thier money back!!!!

I am soooo NOT happy to have seen this site!!! I too am beginning to feel suckered into a vacation by SummerBay. I have never heard of them before and against my better judgement, I paid for a vacation. I tried calling numerous times and could not get through the line. I had concerns about the vacation because it was different from what I was expecting. There were no reps answering the 800# either.
Suprisingly, a rep named Melissa, called me at home, left a message stating they tried to contact me 4x's to check on my feelings about the vacation. They never called me, that call was the first call!! When I called back, I finally got through, it was in the evening after 7 PM EST.. I told her my concerns. She's supposed to check and call me back by today. So far, I haven't heard from her.
I was just about to show a girlfried my package and I was telling her I feel like there's a scam going on. When I typed in Beginmyvacation, this site came up along with other sites!!!
I think I want a refund!!!!!

Hi, I just bought a few of these packages yesterday, and I think it's okay.
I managed to call the Sales Reps about 5 times today, and each one confirmed that I've got the correct holiday packages. I'm based in the UK, so I got through to the 0800 number.
The website link also works for me, and I don't think it's a scam.
The only thing to remember is that these guys are trying to sell Timeshares. Under no circumstances should you agree to buying a £30,000 timeshare! Personally, I think Timeshares are difficult to sell once you buy it.
However, for the price I paid for 5days Orlando, 3 days Daytona beach, x2 50th Anniversary Disney tickets, 4 days in the Bahamas, 5 days Cancun mexico, and x2 3day weekend breaks in the UK...I think it was pretty worth it.

| We recently purchased this dream come true vacation and now I can't believe all the people that have been scammed I to have not been able to reach anyone and they took more money than we told them they could. They left us in a negative balance and are bills are bouncing at the bank now we are expecting to have all of our utilities shut off because those checks will not be good. Please help us try to get our money back some how we could not even afford to give them what we originally agreed. And then they halped themselves to the rest of our bank account.

| They did my sister wrong she drove 16 hours just to get there and they had no room for her.And had her go stay at some ant infeasted crap.Please inform me on how you was able to get a refund.Because they act like what they done to her was nothing and they really didint care that the ruined her family vacation.

I've recieved information from summerbay that I have won a wonderfull trip. After an international call from South-Africa to America for 20 minutes, and after alot of brainwashing, they asked for my credit card number, because without this number they told me, it would not be possible to recieve my prize. I told them I'm 21 and don't have a credit card in my posession, so they told me sorry, in that case they can't help me. Know I ask, why do they need your credit card number if you allready won the prize?
The people called themself, Charles Richardson and Ashley. Everything seems real, they even take you to websites to see your prize, BUT people beware this is a scam, REMEMBER if they have your credit card number they can do anything woth that! PLEASE don't be fooled by this people!!!!

Hi.
My Mom also won a holiday package through a website pop-up. When she proudly told me what she did (for me and my kids) I had to disappoint her and tell her to cancel the trip.
And you know what?
It wasn't a problem! She explained everything to the customer care representative, and he gave her a cancellation number and everything. However, she did cancel within the 7 day cancellation period, which you are entitled to. But even so, everything went smooth.
When I read up on the scam reports, I thought I'd check to see whether they had kept their word, and yes, the money had been 'technically refunded' because they never took it out of the account in lieu of the 7 days cancellation period.
The people I talked to were nothing but helpfull, and up 'till now no money has been taken out of the account.
What might be a big problem with many people is the fact that they might not be aware of Summerbay Resorts being a time-share facility. That means that people who take their holidays with them also have to listen to their sales talks, which are each 90 minutes long. And if you aren't aware of that, you might get irritated.
But despite all the negative reports I can honestly say that the people talking to me were very courteous and understanding. Maybe it's all in the attitude?

i was surfin thru d net & suddenly this ad pops up sayin dat am d 1 millionth visitor...n dat i'd get a free bahamas cruise n stay at summer bay resorts for 4 along with $2100!!!i calld d # they had given...n gave d confrmtn #...i asked d guy on d othr line 2 mail me d details but he kept on talkin nonsense...good thing i disconnected sooner...coz it didn't feel rite....later i read about dis "scam" thing... why mislead ppl!!!

| In reply to the guy who got his money back..you did well. I tried to cancel the next day and TRUPESH PATELL the pushy sales consultant plainly refused. He did reduce the amount but the renegged on the full amount saying he had exceeded his authority. we resloved a sammler reduction. They are toatl rip off pushy sales reps!!!

I just obtained a refund form the scammers after much persistence:
I had to contact the department of agriculture and consumer affairs, florida and actionan on-line complaint (Debra J, Lightfoot was the officer who assisted): I copied all correspondence from Summerbay (They are very good at not providing addressess) using an address from the U.K. "Guardian" newspaper of March 5th 2006 which profiles the slugs who run the sleazy outfit:
The prize in my case mysteriously morphed into an "invitation to view investment property": may the anti-scam websites should list the aliases used by the scammers and try to profile them for future litigation: remember these people talk at length on the phone and "spin " pseudo" stories to suck you in: I am happy to relay this info to interested parties or legimate authorities but not in an open webforum.
Don't waste your time on the phone, while on the other end they prentend to speak to their "legal department", you will not get satisfaction: in fact I think they rely on your frustration at hanging up. The dates on the airmails sent me were were dodgy and the 7 day cooling off period does not comply with Florida law which states consumers have 30days from the date of transaction (usually when the money clears your bank.) to claim their money back provided they have received no service or goods.
My HOW TO" suggestions are
1. ACT , don't sit and fret: you'll only get a refund if you are PERSISTENT ( Remember the "little Red Hen"). Write a full account of events in chronological order, try to recall all things said and offered and the circumstances of the phone call: record names used by caller voice quality, background noise etc, terms of address, peculiaries of speech, accent etc
2.Scan/ copy all relevant documents including transactions letters received
3. Include data useful from other sites and give sources as evidence trail for others. I would point out that the documents used by the Scammers very transparent inks designed NOT to be easily copied. There are few clear legal addresses in the their correspondence and there is no complaints process outlined: (Legitimate businesses comply and co-operate with the law and DO have these in easy to find locations: you should not have to spend hours trawling the internet!!)
4 I copied all correspondence from Summerbay (They are very good at not providing addressess) Use the address from the U.K. "Guardian" newspaper of March 5th 2006 which profiles the slugs who run the sleazy outfit. you can check the bona fides by doing a search independently.
search Boakes.com and see further accounts from other scamees: I got my best break from this site reading responses and HOW to advice.
5. Google search for the Department of agriculture and Consumer affairs website and either complete the online form or attach and forward your particulars , they WILL confirm with a follow-up email, but give them ALL useful information.
6.My advice NEVER BELIEVE ANY "prize" won by phone: WARN OTHERS, LOUD AND OFTEN (despite the obvious personal embarassment)
7. Tell your local consumer affairs: these scams are the darkside of globalisation and easy communication. I kept all e-mail communication and contacted my local consumer affairs people: there are investigations under way in several Australian states and one State minister has issued a warning statement about the firm.
8. Contact the U.S. Federal Postal & Communications (Onforward any offending phone details )(maybe you phone system captured their number: these are traceable: that's waht Eliot Ness used!! ) THERE ARE GROUNDS FOR ACTION UNDER U.S. phone & communication F.C.C for phone fraud as wellas consumer action for crank and unsolicited calls.
9. Change your Password to your credit card, or change the card and review your withdrawal limits. Liase with your bank &/ or credit facility on how to avoid this sort of thing happening: ask them to post the details on their site and to investigate the claims/ issues.
10. GO TO IT AND GOOD LUCK

| I have just been through the same dramas as a few of you. Got the pop up on the web, called the number and booked the holiday. Next day told the missus and have been in trouble since. Called the same number the next day to cancel and was told to call customer service. So I did to only find the number was not connected. On numerious calls back and been given different numbers that also did not work I called the international opperator. Long story short make sure you have the right country code for there number also remember the time difference try calling in there buisness hours (i got through with not much drama at 3 in the morning my time. They cancelled my holiday so they say and will give my money back. That was 3 days ago. At least I got through and will continue to chase them up. Wish me luck.

| I just went through a 20 minute call where they tried to extract my card number from me. The more I hedged the more they 'added' to my 'free' package and the lower the price went. It started at 498.00 for two plus 2 free people and ended at 299.00 for the same with multiple vacations thrown in and a 3 year time frame. When I said no I had to have documentation first period, he hung up on me. Don't do it it is a scam only.

| Wife got a "pop up" and purchased. I was extremely concerned, as we tried to get a rep and we were disconnected on a telephone call. We finally got through and they gave us 5 more vacation packages for our trouble. We went to Orlando in February and had a blast. We had so much fun we bought a timeshare and it looks like a pretty good deal so far. We are both in our late 40's and professionals. We normally would have never dealt with any company after being contacted though a "pop up' but we are glad we did. WWe dealt with Summer Bay in Orlando. Good Luck to all.
