old allegro now holiday village white sands questions?: Cozumel Mexico Forum

what can i expect with the name change over, i know nothing about holiday village resorts. what is special about them? what do you think new years will be like? anyone have a email address for them? any info will be appreciated. thanks, lin

Horrible we just returned this past sunday and we stayed for 9days. We had our wedding down there and it was a stressful carzy disatser, the wedding coordinator made me cry right before the ceremony, she was rude and disrespectful to everyone in my wedding party.
When we got home I found out that there are hotel reviews you can look at like trip advior or orbitz ect.. and I started reading them and found that tons of people are having the same problems, there was another fusterated bride review. Which I had read these before we booked our trip.
Everyone who went with us say's they will never recommed this place, we a couple who checked in and 30 min later checked out said they would rather stay in a motel 6 in the states. We heard lot's of complaints while being there, and mainly it's the staff in the lobby, the manger (who refused to see us on four different occasions) and the wedding corrdinator. The waitstaff in the resturants and the bartenders were the only highlight and the beach of our whole trip.

How was the food, selection? Drinks? I know that there have been not so good reviews but this place just re opened under the white sands name. when a hotel takes over another the reviews in the beginning are never good. It will take a bit to get up to speed with what the new mane expects, etc reno's are never 100% complete either and many think they will be. I am truley sorry you had a terrible experience especially since it was your wedding! We won't be going till new years or Jan so i imagin things will have gotten better by then and staff will know what is expected out of them, etc. reno's should be all done by then as well, so i am not too worried about having the same problem you have experienced. They all were probally really over whelmed and had to deal with many unhappy clients since they opened too early as all resorts seem to do.

I have stayed at the Allegro before and loved it.

We just returned from Cozumel and were booked at the Allegro.

IT IS NOT THE SAME AS BEFORE
RUN.....DON'T WALK

In less than an hour we moved to the Iberostar.
On a scale of 1-10 I would rate the White Sands Holiday VIllage, previously the Allegro a 1.

On the other hand I would rate the Iberostar a 8-9.
The only reason it would not be a 9-10 is because the beach is very rocky.
It is right by a big reef.
You can go out on the dock and get in the water where it is not so rocky.

The White Sands beach was nice but about 3-4 foot off of the beach the drop off was around 2-2 1/2 feet.
NOT recommended for children.
I am 6'1 and when I stepped off the drop off it was just bellow my belly.

We are already thinking about going back to the Iberostar in Feb. '09

We love Cozumel and will DEFINETLY be going back to the Iberostar.

so what kinda of changes did you not like when you returned and it was white sands? why did you leave so quickly to another resort?
