Iberastar Cozumel

Any feedback on Iberostar Cozumel. We are looking for something that is more of a laid back all-inclusive with good food and clean.

The SCARIEST part of the entire trip was that when several people were walking late at night back to our rooms the Security people from the resort walked people to their/our rooms and actually started grabbing at the women's private areas and getting perverted with several of us.

Then later in the stay a Security guard actually came to one of our guest’s rooms in the middle of the night after 2AM with a beer in hand and her husband answered the door and he said that he was there with room service of Cerveza? The same/possibly different security guard also went to 3 other people's rooms that same night knocking on doors. We complained to the management; however, they were not very receptive to the incident.

Our rooms were nice; the beds are probably the hardest slabs of concrete you have sat on with a sheet covering them. We went with a group of 32 people to the resort and almost everyone experienced something awful.

We had reservations at the Steakhouse for 14 people and walking through the jungle maze trying to locate the steakhouse-2 of us ended up in the lobby and had the lobby drive us to the steakhouse which 2 of us ended up being less than 5 minutes late for the reservation and no food had yet been served. The manager- Gilberto- wouldn't allow the 2 late to order any food off the menu- although another person showed up 20 mins late in our same party and they served her off of the menu. I would understand this if the restaurant was busy; however, there were only 3 other tables of 2 each in the restaurant; therefore, this was unacceptable considering that their own management drove us to the restaurant themselves.

We also had more than half of our group get sick on the resort and had to call the doctor- of which will come to your room and try to charge over $100.00/each to give you Imodium tablets (this happened to 3 members of our group)

2 of our other group members tried to eat in another restaurant by the pool before they were setting up for the steakhouse and were kicked out and security was called on them for eating salad on their own.

The Beach was murky and not nice at all; therefore there is no snorkeling- you would be better off staying at another resort where you can snorkel from the resort. This is why you cannot see the water from the resort.

The nightclub was fun, but it has a very moldy smell; however the bartenders were great- all over the resort.
I have been to Mexico a dozen or more times Cozumel diving about 6 times, Cancun, Cabo San Lucas, Playa Del Carmen and Punta Cana, and etc. but this resort was the worst customer service that I have ever experienced-with the exception of the bartenders and the breakfast area.
I would suggest that you look at another resort.. nicer restaurants and staff.

In my opinion the resort itself is beautiful. The Iberostar really has a "tropical" feel to it. It's not just a hotel on the beach but rather nice cabanas/rooms spread throughout the grounds (most are not on the beach). I did not stay at the hotel but I took a tour with the manager. Rooms are large and very nice. They have a wonderful mexican flavor.

Beach is ok but a bit rough. The water at the shore is a bit rocky. Not a great snorkeling beach. (Best snorkeling is at The Presidente, Plaza las Glorias or Fiesta Americana). But why go to Cozumel just for a beach vacation? Shouldn't you be out diving? :-)

Speaking of diving the Iberostar is just a couple of minutes from the reefs. No long boat rides.

I did not eat the food however...NEVER go to an all inclusive resort for the food. I did go to the buffet restaurant and took a peek though...food looked really good...good selection. Did I say don't go to an all inclusive for the food? In my option the food at an all inclusive should be hot, fresh and taste at minimum ok. Any thing beyond this basic food requirement is just a great bonus in my opinion.

If food is that important stay in a regular hotel (Presidente or Fiesta Americana south of town are good options) and eat out at restaurants in San Migual.

I stayed at the Reef Club the last time I was in Cozumel and I enjoyed this resort as well. However, I think the next time I am going to Coz I will stay at the Iberostar.

I had a few questions about diving at the iberostar? Did anyone dive with them? do they have rental equipment available? How often can you dive?

Thanks for answering these

Never been to Mexico. Saw pictures of the resort and thought it looked most tropical out of all of the ones I looked at. We are used to going to Hawaii and aren't able to do so this year. This one looked like it could come close as far as envirornment. I would so appreciate any honest feedback so I can prepere myself and be in the right frame of mind. We want to celebrate our first wedding anniversary in style. Thanks so much!
