Beach Wedding

That is a great site, thanks! I'm waist-deep in beach wedding research right now too, trying to find the best of the best. My wedding isn't until May though, so I've got some time. Another tip I can give is using http://www.gatheringguide.com/ec/event_planners.html to get a really comprehensive list of wedding planners. We're on a tight budget and managed to find a planner to get us our dream beach wedding! Good luck to all of you! - Jane

Beach Wedding on Private Beach in St. Thomas

Postby susie2000 on Sat Sep 20, 2008 3:40 pm

My best girlfriend got married in May 2008 and I had offered to do the preliminary travel research to help find a romantic wedding and honeymoon location . She wanted to have a beach wedding and honeymoon in the Caribbean and she finally (after weeks of my research) decided on renting a private luxury villa called Sand Dollar Estate in St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Sand Dollar is the only private villa rental in St. Thomas that has its own private beach. The villa arranged everything including the reception at the villa and the wedding party accommodation (the villa was huge and 20 people stayed there in much nicer settings than any hotel). I was one of the lucky guests staying at the villa for the wedding and reception and it turned out to be the most fabulous setting ever.

My girlfriend and her new husband, stayed in the villa's honeymoon cottage which was a separate adorable building close to the villa's private sandy beach. I've seen so many weddings at resorts like sandals, etc. where it just seemed so public and unromantic because of other vacationers in the bathing suits or shorts etc. strolling by during the ceremony and wedding party photos. My friend's wedding took place on the villa's private white sand beach and there were no "uninvited" guests or spectators.

Here's a link to their info on weddings and receptions at the villa: http://www.sanddollarestate.com/caribbean-wedding-locations.asp
