hi,me and my 3 hot friends are coming to cancun april 8-15 2004. we live to party and wanting suggestions on where the best clubs are to go at night, anyone else coming the same time?

Hott is good, but it can get you in trouble in wonderful Cancun. I am a veteran of Cancun and all that it implies. You will have a great time no matter where you stay or what time of year, but please allow me to give you some advice. Despite popular belief, springbreak is the worst time to be in Cancun, the resort workers resent the low budget and non tipping college students who wreak havoc, and do not respect anyone who might appear to be young and from the States. That equals poor service!!! The locals work hard and make little in return as you will see, a decent tip will go a long way toward good service(even if you are all-inclusive which I highly recommend). Make sure you get a room safe for each room in your party and use them! Lock-up anything of value that will fit, including your i.d. and passport/birth cert., those are as important as your airfare. Get the number to the American embassy in case something should go very wrong, and always carry an international prepaid phonecard. The police will likely not help you, but they will take your money... as in extort it! Remember this is a poor country, and the locals supplement incomes by stealing what rich drunk Americans don't keep a close eye on. Only carry as much cash as you need, don't flaunt it, lock the rest up. Get money orders at the bank prior to leaving home, they are handy and replaceable, all resorts will cash them at the service desk. Stay away from the ATM machines, the service charges are at least $10 per transaction! I've seen a friend charged $100 service charge per $100 withdrawn, and the home bank will do nothing. Learn the exchange and know how to count your pesos! even the resort help will try to short change you, the most common scam is giving you half of your change back, or half of your travellers check. Remember, the more drunk you are, the harder it is to maintain your pesos. most places will take U.S. dolares, but will give you pesos in change. Be polite if you are shorted, accusing a scammer will get security called on you and you will lose. Most of the time they will act as if it is a mistake, and correct it. Stay together! Do not go anywhere alone!!!!!! If you girls are truly hott, the locals will hound you, and try to seperate you from busy areas. Yes, you know what I am implying. There are so many great clubs, but you will not need me for that. What you do need is to go out safe and get back safe! There are busses out the ying yang and are very reasonable. Keep some coins handy and do not get on a bus which is mostly locals! you will be harassed and probably handled, and not the way you would like. The locals see you as easy drunken prey and are very forward due to the lack of law enforcement! If you decide to take a taxi, well... God be with you, not only are they terrible driver's, they are crooks and con-men. It is typical to pay 10 pesos or 1 USD per mile, plus a tip. The strip that all of the resorts and clubs are on is only 12 miles and other than a planned professional excursion you should not go off of the strip! That means do not go into Cancun city for anything!!!!!Do not even stray from the main boulevard(Kakulkan Paseo). There are many neat little pathways and seemingly harmless jungle areas. These are home to many poor people. They will see you long before you see them and you don't need a confrontation, you will lose. Side streets are off limits too. Prostitution, drugs , and crime are what you will find, no need to even try to find anything interesting there!! If you shop, try to haggle a bit but always be polite. It is very insulting to get upset while trying to strike a deal. If you go out and have too much Tequila at Senor Frogs(highly recommended), or anywhere for that matter, take charge and get your girls back to the resort. One of the worst things I've ever seen, is what happens to a passed out girl in Cancun. Don't let that happen, do not take a cab if it does happen, never never leave that girl's side for a second!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ride the bus, incorporate friendly helpful US or Canadians to help you to the front door of your hotel, thank them and say goodnight. Unless you find a real stud, then do what you must!!! Hee hee... just kiddin. Anyhow, there are a million tips for you, most of them are things you will find out on your own and will be positive and fun. If just one of you gets hurt, it will spoil the trip for all, trust me I know! Discuss the plan prior to leaving and stick to it, you all go together and you all come home with nothing but fun stories, from what will likely be one of the best times of your life!!!!! You've got to make efforts to be safe though and that is all i'm tryin to relay to you. Please let me know where you stayed, how it was as a resort, and if anything i said may have helped. One last tip... this will save you from waiting in line at clubs and at the bar once inside. As always you can tip your way through line. You can also negotiate the price of an all inclusive wrist band prior to entering a club. english speaking club employees sell the bands on the street for a set price. what they don't tell you is that what anything they get over the price of the clubs admission is theirs to keep so a $25 USD wrist band might only actually be $10. you do the math. Try low balling, ask how many people are in the club and flirt! use your party of four as leverage, the sales guy is supposed to be getting people into the club to drink and tip! You get the idea. if you do get the wrist bands, you can drink as much as humanly possible, but here is the hang-up. there is usually a line at the very busy bar inside, if the bartender sees your wristbands you are last served. Either pocket your banded hand or cover it up, while holding cash in the other hand. you will get served much faster, but remember it always helps to tip. Being that you are four hott girls, I'm sure you will have no trouble getting good service though. I hope I have helped a little, if you have any questions about the clubs or anything just email! Lisa..my 3 friends and I are having the same problem...we are going SOMPLACE april 17th-22. can't decide, and agree on any place! Did you decide where it is your going? I was in club med cancun a few years ago..and it was awesome! If you do go to cancun..it was on thurs. nights a club inside one of the hotels..it was called "la boom" it was a FOAM bar. Totally cool. leave jewerly at home, as the soap makes your fingers slippery, and you might loose your stuff. they spray foam onto the dance floor out of a big cannon like thing, It's up to your waist!! remember it's foam..it won't hold you...don't try to JUMP into it!! (like my drunk cousin did. lol My friends and I we're thinking about trying breezes bahamas...to much stuff going on in haiti...staying away from jamaica, and dom. rep.
cancun will be ok..
