Wedding Planned at El Dorado Royale

Postby Karolina on Wed Oct 15, 2003 4:00 pm

Hello! My fiancee and are going to book a Casita Suite at the El Dorado for late April or May. We are planning on getting married there, but very low key (i.e. just the two of us). Since this is our wedding/honeymoon, I want to make sure everything is perfect - or at least as perfect as reasonably possible. Can anyone give me tips or suggestions as to how to book this trip, what to ask for and what to do to ensure everything runs smoothly once we get there? Also, does anyone know of any extra "perks" couples who are marrying at the resort can expect.. or ask for? Thanks so much and I look forward to hearing from anyone who has some honest advice!

Hi, Karolina...I think you may have replied to my post on this message board...my post was titled "El Dorado Royale weddings" and the original message was dated 6/25/03. If so or if not, you may want to check out that message string again as I replied today with additional info re: the wedding we had at the EDR on 8/30/03. Let me know if you have any other questions after you read my updated posting on the other string of messages. Good luck with everything!

Hello Karolina ! :)

My fiancee and I have chosen the same resort as it looks amazing, comfy, quiet, private... we have booked for may and I will give you a couple numbers here, one is the e-mail I was given to contact the resort directly from CAA here goes...weddings@lomas-travel.com... this is the e-mail to put you in direct contact with the co-ordinators for the resort...I have been in contact with a couple ladies named Karla Moctezuma O. and alsoWendy Vazquez.... here are some other numbers, phone 011 52 998 881 94 00 ext 2305 and fax 011 52 998 881 94 06,
this is the info attached to Wendy's letters. The two have been great, sending me all legal requirements, ect, the doctor comes to the resorts for the medical portion, she has basically arranged everything for myself everything is ready, from the flowers, civil ceremony, location , date time , ect... don't be afraid to ask a zillion questions they don't mind in the slightest...:) With usnig the e-mail I have had very quick responses frmo them , please print all e-mails anything related to your booking so you have a hardcopy of all things involved incase of any problems.I am just a little odd like that...my job is like that, have a hard copy of everything!:) We booked through a CAA representative though, they were very thorough with us!:) We dealt with a lady named Dana Heard from the Cobourg, Ont. office but has now left that location...she specified for us to get the honeymoon special included since it is our honeymoon and wedding... romantic dinner night of... ect... I have asked all kinds of info if you need something specific... where are you located? When are you thinking of going? Well... gotta do some work, ick.. looking forward to hearing from you!:) Good luck!:)
Sincerely,
Michelle:)

Hi Michelle!

So great to hear from you! I wrote you an e-mail, so if you check, we can correspond that way. Otherwise, I was curious when exactly you are going and what you have already planned in regards to the ceremony. Also, if you could give me the e-mails of those two lovely ladies who have been so helpful, that would be great.

Thanks again.. and I hope to talk to you soon (maybe even watch you walk down the aisle!) :)

My fiance and I are going to the EDR from Jan. 7-14. We are having some problems finding out if we really do need passports or not (why spend the $70 when my last name's gonna change), and what other forms, papers, etc. we will need. Also, does anyone know if the wedding is performed in English? Will the wedding coordinator meet w/ me when I get to the resort? Will they have a rehearsal? I am having problems cuz the coordinators have only responded to one of my emails, and it's only 2 months away. Any info you guys know is appreciated!!:)

I am getting married on July 7 2004. I have already booked at the EDR along with my family and my fiance's family. About forty other guests will be attending, mainly from other hotels. The EDR wants $50 per person over 10 people to watch us marry. Does anyone have some advice? I am on a budget and don't think I can afford this cost. Is it worth it?

Lisa,

I would suggest e-mailing Carlota at guest services for the EDR. Her e-mail is <guestserviceswedding@eldorado-resort.com.mx>. I have dealt with her and she is really amazing in helping to get things together. I think you should tell her that since you are bringing them so much business, that you had hoped they would do something for you in return. You should also tell her that you will not be able to afford to pay for each guest and that you are thinking that you may have to cancel because of this (a little bluffing can go a long way!). I would just sincerely ask for her to help you and see what she can do. Maybe they can make some sort of deal, refund or something like that? I would also ask Lomas how they justify charging so much for people who are just watching the ceremony; it doesn't really seem fair. Tell them that you will pay for the extra cake and sparkling wine if you have to, but not just for people attending!! Anyway, good luck and I hope everything works out beautifully!
