We stayed at the Tropikist Hotel in Tobago and this must be the worst hotel in the world. The food was always cold, the meat was so tough you couldn't get your fork into it, let alone your knife through it. It always took 15 minutes or more to get a drink at the bar and that was when you were the only one in there. The wine they served was off but they made sure you paid for it. If you stayed here on an all inclusive basis you really were letting yourself in for trouble, because if you complain and ask to be taken off it because you are paying for a service you are not getting, you will be sworn at and abused so badly you may have to phone the police - we did. The crime? We were not prepared to pay for food we could not eat. This was not just any old member of staff, this was the director of the hotel! Others in the hotel put up with being told they were stupid, having holes in their towels, dirty linen on the beds, rooms uncleaned. Yes stay here for a stress induced holiday!

If any body is looking for an all inclusive relaxing vacation go to mexico! T&T is not an americanized country , so dont expect there to be any simularities to where your from . THis is a third world country ,I was in Trinadad with some friends and their family that lived their .We were shocked at the living conditions.We had no hot water , poor refridgeration and plumbing every where is disgusting .We stayed in Tobago for a night, at the tropikst . We had hot water, ac and it was clean . Anywhere in T&T will not have simular food as us and the drinks they make are nothing like you know its pretty much pure alcohol . In trinidad there is a few McDs and KFC but it is nothing like your used to . The people in general are not that pleasent and only want your money . Compared to where we stayed in trinidad the tropikst was heaven .But if you want an all inlusive vacation go to Mexico .

we have just returned fron the tropikist hotel tobago, i would advise anyone not to go to that particular hotel, service was not good, management were awful, food was not good and no selection at all, if you are vegetarian, there is no food available to you. there were no salads, the soups were not very nice, the chicken was all drumsticks or very little meat on the bone or stewed. the rooms very tatty, no smoke detectors in the rooms, light shades were missing, bedding very tatty, beds sloped into the middle, so very bad for backs. towels were not very white and many had holes in them, if you were lucky enough to have any at all.the cleaning by the maids was a joke, a qiuck brush through and a quick wipe down in the bathroom. if you arrive for breakfast at the late hour of 8.30, one hour after the restaurant opens, you will be lucky to see any bacon or pancakes or baked beans left, and they won't cook any more. one evening they even ran out of food for dinner. also that very same evening at 10.00 they ran out of beer.
