I stayed 3 days at the Sueno del Mar on Roatan in Feb
2006. The new hotel is immediately above the dive
shop. Just roll out of bed, walk 40' and jump onto
the first dive boat at 8:45 AM. After the dive walk
upstairs to your room and take a shower in your own
bathroom. Your room's shower is set up with the diver
in mind. The rooms have balconies over looking the
beach, dive pier and sand volley ball court. You are
literally a coconut throw from the water.
The hotel is in the center of the West End between the
shops and bars to the east and the beaches and large
resorts to the west. Flag down a water taxi and you
can get to either end in minutes. My favorite
restaurant, Les Buccaneers is 100' from Sueno del Mars
entrance.
The hotels owner Ray Lopez is a great guy. He is
straight forward, very prompt in replies to email and
an accomplished volley ball player. His dive shop has
consistently rated as a top dive site for several
years on Roatan. Forgot something? Not to worry.
They have every thing you need to rent. Their shop is
well equipped and competitive to any US dive store.
