I noticed in some of the villa information sites they noted that there was an 'outdoor cat' on the villa property. Are there a lot of cats on the island that show up at the villas?

There was what we believe to be an outdoor cat at the residence we stayed at in St John. We pet it for 2-3 minutes and it followed us to our appartment. We managed to keep it outside. BUt then the cat started to miaow quite loudly. We were saying "sorry dude but we don't know you... sorry but you stay outside". I don't really know if it's like this on the entire island though.
