My husband and I spend about a week in Placencia last year; however, we did not go out to Soulshine. We really enjoyed the small peaceful fishing village. I don't know if you are aware the village was severely damaged by a hurricane two years ago. When we were there last October, there was still a lot of rebuilding and the folliage had not returned to its former glory. I would try to check it out if you can. It did not hamper our visit at all, but after all this is your wedding. Check out this website for photos http://www.placenciasidewalk.com/photo_al.htm

We just came back from 10 days at Soulshine and were disappointed. In summary, don't go there for your wedding and consider other options first.

Soulshine is a far cry from the way it is described on its website.

First of all, the "water front" location actually means being adjacent to a busy water way. Motor boats of all sizes will wake you up in the morning!

In addition, Soulshine is next to a local open bar, with Karaoke two nights a week. Unless you like live music in your cabana at 1am, we would not recommend Soulshine as a place for rest and relaxation.

The local staff is doing a great job and makes up for some of the inconveniences. However, the staff is overworked. The owner is more interested in his daily fishing trips than the well-being of his guests.

Food is excellent, featuring local delicacies.

The cabanas are basic and clean. Stay indoors at dawn and dusk when the sand flies come out to feast!

Diving conditionas in the month of December are not great. Visibility varies between reasonably well to poor.

Overall, Soulshine is not the place for relaxation as promised and is pricey for the level of amenities and service delivered. Consider other options before going to Soulshine.

Im confused by the less than glowing review of Soulshine in the last response... I have been to Soulshine 3 times in the last 18months and am planning a return trip in April. The owner, Todd & his entire staff are incredible and do everything to make sure their guests have a great stay. On my last stay in December, there was a couple that decided to have their wedding at Soulshine even though they had it planned at another place in Placencia because it was much nicer than the original place. Ive never felt more relaxed at any resort and cant wait to get back in a couple months! Soulshine is THE place to stay in Placencia, for sure!
