I can't say enough about Sosua Bay Hotel.....Everyone was very nice and always helpfull. We got put in the Victorian House for 3 nights and then in Sosua for 4 nights because we had to move they gave us a ocean view at no extra cost and after we packed they moved everything for us. The resort it self is breath taking and very clean, no Bugs in the rooms, we had hot water everyday and only had power outages one night 2 or3 times for about 1 minute or so. The food was 5 stars always hot and so much differant things to choose from you never had to worry about what you were going to eat. (chicken,fish,beef) everynight. Made to order food also in the buffet resturant. We are going back in 18 months or so and plan on taking our 6 other family members kids and grandkids.

iam due to go to the sosua bay hotel in june 2004 my tour opperator has just informed me that there is building work going on there i just wondered if i had any thing to worry about and has any body been here in the past few weeks (iam worried that all i will hear is diggers and banging) any feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Jonathan- there is construction going on beside the resort- they are completing a long project...I work around the corner and have not heard really bad "noise pollution" yet, but will ask their direct neighbors (other bar owners I know from Ruby's Lounge) and post again.
Construction in this country is ongoing, so no matter where you stay you could be subject to it, but as far as I know, you've little to worry about.

We staid in Sosua a couple of times in Sosua by the Sea. Is the place still in business?

Oh this hotel is most definitely still in business, it's really really pretty. It's right on Sousa Beach, where there is so much activity. I highly recommend this resort for those looking for a great beach and a terrific nightlife. It's a sister resort to the Lifestyle Hacienda Resort, where I just stayed. I am heading back to the Dominican Republic in a month and just booked the Sousa Bay Hotel with http://www.viptravelresorts.com Ask for Michelle, she gives great rates.
