Sky Castles Ocho Rios

Postby nicola on Tue Aug 26, 2003 12:55 pm

We went to Sky Castles in July 2003 - it's a great place to try if your looking for a escape to the caribbean without costing you the earth. the views from sky castles are superb! you can see across ocho rios and on most days, the cruise lines dock for the day creating a buzz in town at the local Island Village which is very american with upmarket shops and a margaritaville! The locals are friendly but do check taxi fares before you get one as they are really expensive - most tourist attractions are within walking distance ie Dunns River Falls are about a 10-15 min walk from Sky Castles...if your looking for a quiet beach try regaee beach but you will need to get a taxi.

The hill is steep at sky castles but it keeps you fit after eating all the jerk chicken and drinking red stripe, so only worry if you have walking difficulties.

Kirt, is the hotel taxi driver..he will take you to your room if you get out of breath!!

A holiday is what you make of it in Jamaica just relax and enjoy...yeh mon!

How expensive is a taxi, or are you saying they are only expensive if they think you don't knoe the price? Also how far is the beach from the hotel? & can you come and go as you please? Your answer will be much appreciated!

I have been to Jamaica many of times and I have stayed at Sea Castles before. Yes, you may come and go as you please. And has for the taxi's, Ask the front desk how much they would pay to go to that perticular destination as per they would give you the correct rate. Then discuss the rate with the driver before you go anywhere. The view and Sea Castles is GREAT!
