My daughter was raped by a security guard at a five star resort south of Playa de Carmen. No one helped us, let alone cover our medical and psychological expenses, including the resort, the tour company & the security company. The police and security guard employees are cronies so the rapist is still out there. If it happens to you, don't expect any help.

What you should do is teach all your daughters and all the women in your lives self defense. It's easy, anyone, old or young can learn. One in three women will be attacked during their lives.
Do it. You will not be sorry.

Also be extra careful Friday and Sat. nights as the next days are checkout and this guy is an expert at raping and knows you will be leaving so you won't have time to report it. If you should be attacked, call the American consulate and get names of a local attorney that speaks English ASAP.

It's been hard and I hope by writing this I can help prevent this from happening to someone else.
