Sandals Antigua

Postby RIU Fan on Fri Mar 17, 2006 9:45 pm

We just got back from a stay at the Sandals in Antigua. The food was not great and there was not much variety, the room was not great, the service was not great, the bartenders were not any fun, the entertainment was less than good and there is a lot of construction going on. There was nothing to keep us entertained in the afternoon/evening once we had had enough sun. My husband watched Oprah one afternoon, eeegads! I paid $700 - $800 more money than I would have paid to stay at a RIU Resort somewhere else, but RIU isn't in Antigua, and we were definitely disappointed as to what we received. Next year we are going back to the RIU! If you want quiet then this place will supply it.

Sandals Antigua resort

Postby sailor on Sun Mar 26, 2006 5:49 am

Having stayed recently at Sandals Antigua and then read a report from someone who was there at the same time, I wonder in fact whether we were really in the same resort. The food was very good, the evening entertainment was varied and well organised (with a brilliant in house band). The bar tenders were witty and friendly. The activities provided in the inclusive package were excellent (especially the water sports) and backed up by a friendly and knowlegable team.

The Sandals experience is essentially Caribbean. The very adequate rooms are situated within tropical gardens and the staff are certainly far removed from the stuffy and sycophantic equivalents encountered in some concrete palaces of hotels.

The hotel is currently being extended. However the building work is hardly noticeable to the guests.

I will go there again and thoroughly recommend the resort.

Antigua Sandals Day Pass?

Postby ScoobyDo on Thu Jun 29, 2006 1:46 pm

Can anyone tell me if Sandals allows for a day pass? We're going to be in Antigua for one day, done all the touristy stuff there already. I know Sandals offers a pass on other islands. Also, does the pool have a swim-up bar, view of the ocean and a waterfall? I think it does, but I want to be sure. Please send replies to my personal email at Scott@myorlandoagent.com Also would love to hear about your personal experiences on this island!
