first of all, sorry for my poor english. Hi. I'm going to travel alone in st. lucia during the month of may. I like to speak to people if they like to, I try to be respectful and I know that people in the island is generally friendly to visitors, but I ask if anyone has experienced moments of danger or trouble. are there particular places to avoid? thanks

We went to St Lucia and sailed out of Rodney Bay. We went to Jump up in Gros Islet on 2 friday nights. We really enjoyed the barbeque chicken and Piton beer. We stayed at Castro's downtown. My wife noticed that when she was not with me the local men gave her a lot more attention than when she was with me. My suggestion is enjoy the culture, be wary of your surroundings and act confident. You will have a great time.

Gros islet(by Rodney Bay) looks intimidating at first but it is full of really cool folks. We were there this past week and had a great time..

Very very friendly people...

My husband and I have been to St. Lucia twice. We found the natives to be VERY friendly. We sayed at Rendezvous resort which was wonderful. We could walk to the capital, the Castries. There is a wonderful market there that you must check out. It is SOOOO safe. We never felt unsafe. We did not make the Friday night street party though I hear it is a great time. Depending on where you stay, you may want to go w/ a group of people. I doubt you are staying in a resort? If so, some of the staff would go out w/ visitors and they all had a great time. St. Lucia is known as one of the safer islands. Use common sense, as you would in your own home town!!
