My husband and I are scheduled to arrive at Eldorado Resort and Spa on Sept. 28. I took the word of my travel agent that this was the place for us. We need time to get to know each other again after 17 years of marriage and 4 kids.

After reading some of the reviews on Eldorado Resort and Spa I wonder if I made the right choice.

Is there anyone who has recently visited that can tell me what to expect when we arrive?

How is the food? the water? the beach? What tours are available and how expensive are they? Is the staff friendly? Do our prepaid phone cards work from the hotel? Does anyone have any recent pictures?

Any info will be greatly appreciated!!

You definitely made the right choice. You will love it. The staff are wonderful. The accomodations are great. I loved the food, but I am very adventurous when it comes to trying new things. If you like alcoholic drinks, have them make you a Mayan Coffee after dinner one evening...it is quite a show (pouring fire!). There is always something going on by the pool and the nightly festivities are great. I am curious to know if they still do impersonator night at the disco tech. I am scheduled to go back on 10/13, so I can't wait!!! Take water shoes..there beach out front is a little rockly, but it attracts the fish and makes it definitely worthwhile...if you want smooth sand beach, walk to the left (facing the water) for about 5-10 minutes and you will find a perfect area...You need to snorkel...it is a truly liberating experience...I love it! I believe there is a cave tour included, you will enjoy that too. I gotta run for now, so please let me know how you like it!

Take some water shoes, and concentrate on your vacation. They are ok, but most people avoid the edr's. BUT, your vacation will not be ruined! You will have a good time, but next time, pick somewhere else...remember it is not going to be bad, but the people reviewing edr's normally have stayed at better places and they are just unfair sometimes. Your vacation will be what you make it..trust me.
