Reef club playa car

Postby annmarie on Mon Jun 02, 2003 9:59 am

traveling from UK at end of June for 2 weeks. taking our kids 9&12 years, any ideas as to entertainment at the Reef club or surounding area suitable for us all. also, what is the expected amount for 'tipping' barmen, housekeepers etc? some other caribean destinations that we have been to in an all inclusive package prohibit tipping. any advice would be worthwhile.
thanks

Not what we expected. Only 2 towels per room; Beach chairs mostly all broken; Limited amt. of towels for around pool (better get there early); Not much in the way of entertainment; Staff not overly friendly-only speak when spoken to; Tipping? - why would you want to? They don't do much for you anyway, and if you request anything, chances are, you're not going to get it anyway!

Just got back from 5 days at Reef Club Cozumel 6/18/03. We went down with a group of 26. We had the grandest time. I have been on 4 cruises and I think I know what a good time is. This was a blast. I would tip the bar staff one dollar about every 10 times I got a drink. They took it on the sly. I don't think they are supposed to take tips, but it sure makes the drinks stronger and the service better. I could just walk up to the bar with an existing line of 6 people and he would make my drink and hand it to me first. The grounds are beautiful. I had maids speak to me every day as I walked to and from my room. I didn't expect that. We had 8 children with us and the children's activities really excited them. The food is adequate. Some things are great and some are not. Breakfast is the best meal of the day. Hamburgers are available for 11 hours of the day. The guacamole is out of this world. Overall, all 26 would return next year. Activities....kyaks from the resort are free and seemed popular. We went diving for $55.00 for a 2 tank dive with sand dollar sports, right at the resort and it was great. Chankannab park is just a 5 minute cab ride away and $10 admission. It is really fun.

Have a good time,

Kenneth

Our son is getting married July 26th. We are thinking of sending them to the Reef Club. Is this a good place for a Honeymoon? They want to spend quality time on the beach and playing in the surf. From reading Melissa's comments do they need to take their own towells?

we had a wonderful time on our holiday.
The beach was perfect, plenty of white sand, turquoise waters and lots of space.

no problems getting sun loungers towels etc.
rooms were adequate and clean. clean towells every day in the room and down by the beach.

Food, typicall 'All inclusive' buffet, plenty of it, hot & fresh slections and there was never a meal time when the kids or ourselves couldn't find something we liked. Italian restaurant- well, we wouldn't frequent it if it was at home, very limited menu and over rated. Although, it was nice to be served your meal for a change.
Would consider going back if it wasn't for the 10 1/2 hour flight & the 4 hour drive to the airport to get there from Scotland. Excellent value for money. Staff, so pleasant at all times.

A lovely relaxing time had by all.
