Lisa,
Also, are the beaches topfree sunbathing friendly?
Yes there is topless sun bathing on the beaches in Playa - though no totally nude beaches.
Read this overview for more info.Just planning a vacation to Playa del Carmen in Mexico in February and just wondering how the weather is. Do they have a rainy season? If so when is it?
The rainy season starts around May and goes through Novemeber or so. Though rains usually come and go quickly during the day. You should have great weather in February.

As for other tips...it depends on what you like to do.
- Visit Tulum for the day. If you rent a car you can explore the rest of the area in Tulum in stop by the Tulum Hotel Zone at one of the local restaurants.
- Go snorkeling in Akumal
- Visit a cenote for a snorkeling tour
- Take a day trip to ruins like Chizten-Itza
- I always like to hang out at the beach bar at the Blue Parrot Hotel
- Beach walks. The beach, starting in Playa stretches far north. Grab a bottle of water, sunscreen and start walking.
- Puerto Aventuras has a dolphin swim (expensive but something different)
- Go to Paamul for lunch at the beach front restaurant. (

Arrecifes de Paamul - Restaurant in Paamul
Open since 1970. This restaurant combines traditional Yucatecan flavors with Caribbean cuisine. Great place to spend the day on the beach.
Location: on the beach. Open 8:00 am - 8:00 pm, daily.
