I am planning a trip to Belize for 4, 2 adults and 2 children--a 13 year old daughter and 8 year old son. We will be there from Nov 19- Dec 3, 2006. I have airfare booked already and am looking for activities to do while we are there and lodging.
We would like to have non-smoking, hot water, AC preferred but not required and private bath in the lodging and something relatively affordable. We love to experience the culture of where we travel so any lodging that aids in that is preferred. Mid-range to budget pricing preferred but not requiered, I would rather spend our budget on activities and less on lodging if possible.
The activities we would like to do while we are there is 3-4 days of fly fishing the flats for Tarpon and/or bonefish (for 1 adult and the 8 year old only), while the boys are fishing—the girls would like some relaxing, shopping, and a day or two of planned activity would be great, scuba diving for 2-3 days with multiple dives all 3 days for 3 (all but the 8 year old are certified, and the 8 year old can snorkel) snorkeling, cave tubing, zip line, Mayan ruins, jungle excursion, manatee or other sea life adventures, and if time permits a trip to Tikal for 1-2 days. Any other activity that you recommend, we are all healthy and active; we love adventure and are open to any local activities that are recommended. A couple of things that we are not interested in is the Belize Zoo and bird watching, unless you highly recommend it! We really like to experience the local flavor when we travel so the more we can do that, the better.
I am wanting to do Plancencia, San Ignacio, Ambergirs Caye (San Pedro) and Caye Caulker--I have also gotten info on Dangriga and Gales Point but not sure if we are going to get there.
Any information on traveling around the country once we get there would be helpful and any tips or trips you have had that fit our interests I would appreciate very much.
Thanks! Lisa
