place to stay in Trinidad -port of spain 21 Mar - 24 Mar

Postby pmayadun on Sat Jan 20, 2007 6:54 am

Hi
Can anyone let us know if you know of a place we could stay in Port Of Spain in Trinidad that is not too expensive from the 21st March to the 24th March 2007?
We (two guys) travelling to the West Indies for the cricket. Any place is fine even if it is a room in a private house. That would probably be a way to meet some locals anyway. We are both very easy going and travelling there to watch some cricket and more importantly to meet and hang out with the locals. Is it better to stay in Tobago and travel (catch the ferry/plane to Trinidad) to trinidad on the day of the game?

Look forward to someone giving us a few tips...

Thanks
Peter

Peter, your best bet would be to check the classified sections of the local Trinidad newspapers, especially under "visitor accommodations". Here are the links to the online classified sections of two of them - the Trinidad Guardian, and the Newsday. http://www.guardian.co.tt/classified/class.html

Good luck with your search. You should look for places that are either in Port of Spain, Diego Martin (a suburb just outside of POS), or Woodbrook (a residential section within POS) Places like Chaguanas or Arouca are well out of town and you would need to travel an hour or more to POS for the matches.

Re staying in Tobago and travelling on the day of the game, it might be too much of a hassle to try to get over on the day of the game itself. You'd be tired by the time you got to the match venue. Better to stay somewhere in Trinidad for match days.
