Paradisus Riveria

Postby Elaine on Fri Nov 29, 2002 5:35 pm

I went there in early Oct for my honeymoon. The resort is relatively new so everything is well maintained. There were plenty of poolside lounge chairs. Lots of huts for shade on the beach. There are huts around the pool with cushions so you and your partner can enjoy. The main pool is huge - but if you don't want to be near the party bar, there's also the adult only's pool - bar nearby as well.

The restaurants provide you with a good range of different tastes - French, Mexican, Medditerranean and Japanese. I wouldn't recommend the Japanese. The french restaurant was our favourite. The service is also very good, even without tipping.

The beach was a little rough - the sand isn't as fine as Cuba. Water was warm but you might find a lot of seaweed at times. They have a tractor trailer cleaning up the excess all day.

My only complaints - the evening buffet wasn't open for 3 out of the 7 nights we were there, but they didn't post any signs or clearly communicate this - a bit of a problem when you are hungry. But we did find out later, that you can order room service from any of the open restaurants, even though you don't have the menu.

The other complaint - lots of knocking on the doors at all times of day from the staff - more towels? stock up on the bar? etc.... make sure you leave the don't disturb sign if you don't want to be bothered.

My in-laws went a few weeks after us and loved it!! For the amount of $$ you spend, you get alot for it. The in-laws went for the VIP treatment though. If you want the VIP, you get a better room (ocean view), better service, and access to a private bar with liquor you can't get anywhere else on the resort.

Overall, the place is clean, food is great, service is good, and the place is tranquil. This is a great place for someone who wants to relax and just be pampered.

Keep in mind - we went when the occupancy rate was about 30% - you might have to get up early to get those huts/chairs.

Hope someone can help out..what is the dress code at the resort's restaurant? It seems every year, I either take too many dress items or too little.

Thanks, you can email me directly.

My husband and I just got back from th Paradisus I have to say that it was indeed the best resort in or around the Cancun island. To anybody going there in the near future,if you have not been there yet you're in for a REAL treat. Good Luck and have lots of FUN!!!

The Paradisus was a beautiful resort! My husband and I went there for our honeymoon. Well worth the $$. It is very clean and the food was good. The staff was very helpful. You will be sure to have a very relaxing time. The spa was nice, especially for massages! Definitely upgrade your room to one that faces the water (also has a jacuzzi). The beach has a lot of seaweed washing up - but it was usually well-groomed. One last thing - don't take the day trip into Cancun - your time is better spent at the resort.

BE VERY CAREFUL OF THE SUNQUEST/ALBATOURS operations from this resort. Unlike other tour companies, a rep is not at the hotel regularly and is not available by phone, either. So, if you have any questions or parts of your package (i.e. transportation) are not right, you may be out of luck.
