We are considering a vacation at La Vista Resort but have some major questions about the beach. Is it a downhill walk (are there steps or a road?) to get to the beach? Do you have to walk through the Pelican Resort to get to it? And since it's a quarter mile walk, are there facilities (bathrooms) available down there? Does La Vista share the beach with the Pelican Resort, or is this La Vista's own beach? We stayed at the Pelican many years ago and remember not being impressed with the beach at that time. Now I understand there has been hurricane damage, so I'd like to know what the beach is like there now. Is it a good swimming beach? Is it nice sand or is it rocky? And can you walk any distance on it or is it just in front of the resort? We are going mostly for the beach, so this is very important to know. Otherwise, we should be looking for a place with a better beach.

La Vista is the smallest resort in the Pelican point area, I didn't stay there but I have 4 friends, 2 couples that stayed there and they both liked it. It has a small pool, good service and its own beach. But, the beach in front of the resort is small and not safe for swimming, for swimming you must use the Pelican Beach, which is between the two larger resorts, the Pelican and Sunterra. It is about a 200 yard walk to this beach and I think there is a public washroom near the beach, probably on the Pelican Property. When I was there, two years ago I believe they were adding more units closer to their beach and another pool, close to the beach.

We stay at LaVista once or twice each year. It's a small quaint property run by on site owners - family. Depending upon where at LaVista you stay - Resort is across a road from the beach but has a GREAT pool and deck right in front of the restaurant/bar, on the other side of the road is LaVista Beach. The pool is beach side (above the sea wall) w/ stairs to the sand, basically right out your front door. Your close enough to home to use your own facilities. Depending on what you consider a good beach walk either way is good but populated as there are many houses along the walk and it does get rocky here or there. The sand is quite nice but the wave action is not good for those who are not good swimmers. There is coral and rock close to shore. We snorkel out there but have no trouble due to our abilities. We LOVE LaVista! We rent a car from Mikie at Tropical and visit other beaches on the island, some we take food with and others have facilities, bar, etc. We do go off season so it's easily to travel around the island. We love the beach - that's why we love St. Maarten/Martin. 37 sq miles with 37 beaches but more if you look for all the nooks and crannies.

Great little resort. Great pool; but rent a car to get to other beaches.

wouldn't stay at la vista beach,it is to much of hasle to the beach, it best you stay at the caravanserai hotel very close to the beach and alot of fun

Great little resort, very friendly & comfortable, but rent a car and go elsewhere for beaches. There are a lot of great ones on the island.
