i would love to know what hotel is directly on the beach with good/great snorkelling right off that beach, no boat rides or cars to reach the snorkelling, just a walk in the water and plop down and enjoy the sights. I am interested in an area that is not too far from Miami, Bahamas, Turks and Caicos etc. Can you help me? Price is not much of a problem, it is the snorkelling that counts.

Coral Gardens Condo on Turks & Caicos has a beautiful reef right off the beach. Condo is excellent - make sure you ask for beach front -it's worth it.
Cayman Islands - many accomodations right on 7 mile beach has snorkeling right there, I've stayed at Tamarin Bay Condo and Discovery Point - both great.

The Rockhouse Hotel in Negril, Jamaica is outstanding for privacy (reasonably priced villas with private sunpads)and jump from or ladder down the 20" cliffs to a fabulous snorkeling reef as big as you have the energy to explore.
