Reef Club Coco Beach

Based on the grounds, service and food, this was not a

5 star hotel as advertised, but a 3 star at best.

- Bad Service at frontdesk and at the grill. Carmen was

unfriendly and not helpful. The man at the grill was not

helpful to children or women (but when a man walked

up, was eager to assist).

- Childcare was lacking. Only a few hours a day

coverage. No dinner or evening coverage. Not much

for the kids to do in the room. The playstructure is a

safety hazard (too many swings too close together).

- Rooms were subpar. Broken pipes; leaking air

conditioners; no phones; no clocks; limited TV

selections; first, no water at all, then no hot water.

- Housekeeping. Enters w/out knocking. Not leaving

enough towels for the people in the room. No chain on

doors to keep them out.

- Front desk: can't tell time. Wrong times for wakeup

calls. Didn't have the basic supplies (paper, bandaids,

etc..) Just not pleasant.

- The "family" show they gave was x-rated with

children in the audience... simulated sex acts on stage.

- Leaking roof in the "nice" restaurant. They offered

me an umbrella.

- Road to Hotel not finished yet.

- The food was ok...not good or great in any of the

eateries.

- The pool was ok... didn't have any special features to

"write home about".

- The beach was nice. But while there were wave

runners on the beach (and we saw them using them)

they weren't "available".

- While the travel agency said there was a hospitality

room to use (after checkout, before leaving for the

airport); the frontdesk was not happy about people

using it. Additionally... it wasn't all that clean.

- Watched them take dirty pool towels from people,

fold them and give them out to new people (YUCK).

We have stayed at many hotels on Riviera Maya and this was the worst.Nothing went right. Front desk disorganized, water sports equipment not available until late in the week, room not made up, fridge not stocked, beach area smelly with garbage waiting in the sun for pick up ( never picked up). Lots more but no space to write it. Noisy, evening animation was projection videos, stupid games, loud and crude. I give it 2 stars at best. Go to Iberostar instead.
