STATUS UPDATE OF OCCIDENTAL HOTELS & RESORTS PROPERTIES IN MEXICO FOLLOWING HURRICANE WILMA


November 4 , 2005 ­ After conducting a detailed assessment of the condition of its properties in Mexico following hurricane Wilma, Occidental Hotels & Resorts announced today that its six resorts in Cancun, Playacar and Cozumel are scheduled to reopen as follows:


January 31, 2006:


o Occidental Grand Cozumel
o Allegro Cozumel
o Allegro Playacar


The reopening dates of Royal Hideaway Playacar and Occidental Grand Xcaret are still pending. However, these properties will not reopen prior to January 31, 2006.


Caribbean Village Cancun: This property is scheduled to reopen during the last quarter of 2006.

We are due to arrive at Occidental in playa del carmen. Based on you message does that mean it will not be available?

You need to contact your booking agent or the hotel direclty to confirm where the hotel is available for your travel dates.

Anyone who can help me, I would appreciate it. Yes, the Allegro Playacar is to open on January 31st, but will the beach reclaimation be completed by then? From what I understand, this area has no beach now due to Emily and Wilma, but there are plans to rebuild the beach. I've called Occidental resorts, and of course I spoke to a travel specialist who could only say that the resort will be operational at the end of January - she had no clue re: the condition of the beach. I was provided the resort's phone #, and nobody answers. Yes, I could go someplace else, but this place is special, a few years back it was the site of a marriage proposal, so on the way back from Xcalak and Tulum, I wanted to surprise my lady by staying here a few nights. I am looking at the end of February. Thanks.
